Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2014 Runway Show | NY Fashion Week

Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2014

The show may have been for New York Fashion Week, but inside Tommy Hilfiger's Spring 2014 presentation, it was clearly California. Having turned Pier 94 into a sandy beach and the runway into a boardwalk, the classic all-American designer evoked the active lifestyle of the Golden State with scuba, surf, and skater references. Cutout swimsuits, neoprene skirts, leather jersey tanks, and silk bowling shirts all got punched up with custom Hawaiian prints and a cool mix of saturated and sun-washed colors, à la the rust-red scuba suit with pops of bright orange overlock stitching, which just so happens to be inspired by boogie boards.

We loved Tommy's styling touches — unzipped and folded-over shorts and laceless wedge sneakers — as well as his runway soundtrack. From Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Californication" to The Beach Boys' "I Get Around" and "California Girls," we'll even admit that we New Yorkers got a little longing for that West Coast state of mind.
