Tracy Reese's New Dress Collection For Anthropologie Launches Tomorrow

Anthropologie just nabbed Tracy Reese as one of its designers for its Made in Kind May collection.
Tracy Reese Dresses For Anthropologie

Anthropologie just nabbed Tracy Reese as one of its designers for its Made in Kind May collection. With three frock-filled collections on her own — Tracy Reese, Plenty, and Frock — it's safe to say the designer knows a thing or two about creating cute and flattering dresses for all kinds of women. Her new line for Anthropologie, launching tomorrow, was inspired by rich garden landscapes from a visit to Frida Kahlo's museum, resulting in ladylike flora-filled dresses. Some are treated with oversize bow embellishments, while others feature delicate lace dipped in a saturated teal hue. The best part? The modest hemlines and pretty prints can easily take you from a long day at work to tea time in 30 seconds flat with just a few simple accessory swaps. Tracy Reese's seven-piece collection for Anthropologie ranges from $248 to $348; see the complete collection now in the slideshow.

>> Hot off the heels of last month's highly successful Made in Kind debut, Anthropologie has announced that Tracy Reese will be among the latest batch of designers to be featured in the May installment of the online collaboration platform.

Available April 27, Reese's seven-piece capsule will be made up of bright lace and photo-printed dresses, all with the same girlie, vintage vibe the designer is known for. Inspired by the gardens of the Frida Kahlo museum, the collection will be priced around $248 to $348 — much like Reese's already-existing Frock and Plenty diffusion lines. Alongside Reese's collection, Made in Kind's May offering will also feature pieces from UK designer Charlotte Taylor, whose collection of op-art printed shifts and jumpsuits will be priced from $118 to $268, and Byron Lars, whose eight-piece capsule of folk-tinged dresses and tops — titled Beguile by Byron Lars — will be priced from $90 to $280.

Also on tap this time around are a range of pieces designed by a variety of India-based designers under the India Collections marquis, as well as new pieces from last month's partners Karen Walker, Place National, and John Patrick for O by Organic. A sampling of all those — plus more — right here in the slideshow.

Need even more proof that street style is having a huge influence on the runways?

Need even more proof that street style is having a huge influence on the runways? Look to Tracy Reese, who went for what she calls an "accessible" look. That's not to say that the collection or beauty look lacked polish, though. Though the styles weren't overly complex, they were cohesive as a whole. "The clothes are meant to be worn by normal people," Reese said. "When the complete look comes together, it sends a head-to-toe message." Read on to see how that look came together.

Tracy Reese Spring 2012

It was a pocket full of posies for Tracy Reese today at her Spring runway show.
Tracy Reese: Spring 2012

It was a pocket full of posies for Tracy Reese today at her Spring runway show. Forming a juxtaposition between romance and sport, Reese created a colorful collection filled with pretty botanical prints and colors. Anorak jackets tempered feminine floral sequin tees and sweet bathing suit rompers, while peacock blue high-waist leather shorts added a modern edge to buttercup floral blouses. For dresses, Reese showed a range of styles from ruched body-con one-shoulder dresses to pretty, picnic-ready posy print dresses in a flowy flattering fit. Fluid palazzo pants and jumpsuits, lace inset maxi skirts, and our favorite, sheer striped linen dresses and skirts, further the languid, effortless tone. For extra flourish, Reese accessorized with structured statement hats from Jennifer Ouellette and even threw in a couple of throwback floral print umbrellas. So cute. More details from the show below.

  • Trends: Palazzo pants, anoraks, romper bathing suits, bold floral prints.
  • Colors: Peacock blue, pink, yellow, coral, black, khaki, pearl white.
  • Key Look: The sheer linen looks and the peacock blue leather shorts.
  • Accessories: Round color-tinted sunglasses, lace-up platform sandals, structured Jennifer Ouellette hats.
  • Who Would Wear It: Girls who crave color and fun prints.
