Trend Alert: Chain Mail

Chain mail's days of being all tough and Mad Max-ish are over. This slick metal is proving it can be sophisticated and gentle - just look at those adorable white Steve Madden flats with a black chain mail toe (totally on sale, btw!). While it's been around the fashion block quite a few times, this time it's more wearable, but still delivers a bit of attitude.

chains are cool when it's not too overbearing... like those sandals... the ones on clutches are cool and that dress is lovely...

i have been really surprised recently by some amazing chainmail(le) jewelry I've seen. I personally have made some purchases off of etsy.com. If you're not familiar with etsy, you can find all kind of handmade things there...from paintings to clothing to jewelry to pretty much LITERALLY anything you can think of that someone might create. My favorite jewelry chainmaille shop is at http://vivametal.etsy.com I've purchased a few gifts from there, as well as a few things for myself. I highly recommend checking it out. For the detail and level of work she offers, she charges incredibly reasonable prices. She can also do custom work, which I have taken advantage of - I commissioned an amazing necklace for my sister's birthday! Anyway, I'm all for this becoming a new "trend", as long as it's tasteful. Sometimes people can go a little overboard
