Trend Alert: Fur Vests

It seems every winter fur vests surface. This luxurious piece creates Aspen chic when thrown over a skinny turtleneck and a great pair of slouchy boots. I have found some updated versions; some faux, some luxe, and one super cute (and cheap!) shearling number. These toasty delights glamour up everything from jeans to an evening dress. Here are my designer and non-designer choices.

Fur is alright as long as it's the kind where you don't have to kill the animal for it, like wool where they just take the wool from the sheep but they don't kill it. I personally love faux fur, so soft, I have a faux fur hood on my jacket and its perfect for winter. :D

Flutter, some of the newest and cutest designers are enviro-friendly. You're thinking far too much in coarse hemp terms, don't be so closed minded. Bamboo and woodpulp are being spun into incredibly soft and rich fabrics Think Loomstate jeans, Volcom's new Green campaign, Katharine Hammett's organic pieces, Linda Loudermilk, and the like.

i like the faux fur from old navy, cute and inexpensive. i think fab reports on what she thinks is cute, if something is faux and not cute, guess what she isnt going to post it. i am not a fan of fur but i have enough respect for someone to not degrade them because they choose to wear it. and im sure if fab found an organic outfit that didnt look like a paper sack, she would be the first to post it i know he thinks you're fine and stuff but does he know how to wind you up?

Fab is just reporting on fashions and not everyone on this site is anti-fur. It's like the Angelina/Jennifer debate. It brings out the debaters in us, all of us, but does that solve it? I don't know about the slimming idea, but my vest doesn't make me look chubby or anything. Maybe I should recheck that in the mirror LOL

I think it would be nice for fabsugar to only post faux fur items. Also, could we perhaps get some organic material designers on here sometime? I think that envio-friendly is going to be the next new trend!

. I still don't understand why it's even legal. As much as I admire designers for their intuitive designs and creativity, I would think that by now fashion would have caught up with the rest of the world. It's cruel, not sustainable, and tacky. Get with it guys. Do you want to see a fox slaughtered to make that vest? I didn't think so.

To each her own. If you don't like it, don't wear it. Frankly, I think faux is a wannabe and just like I don't like fake designer shoes, bags, etc. If its not the real thing I'm not going to wear it.

My grandmother got me one of these for Christmas and I thought she must have been on something to think it was cute. Apparently grandma wasn't so off if it's becoming trendy....I'm still never gonna wear it because it's gross looking.
