Trend Alert: In the Trenches

One piece of outerwear you will find in every fashion professional's closet is a trench. The trench has been around for ions — and is functional fashion at its best. First created by Thomas Burberry for the British army officers in World War I, the garment kept the troops warm and dry in the trenches. This coat continues to serve people well in the trenches, with it's ability to be both glamorous and serviceable. With so many incarnations throughout time, most notably by Yves Saint Laurent and Jean Paul Gaultier, the design has barely changed. If you don't have a Fab trench by now, now is the time to take the plunge.
