Far outweighing the glamour of most other red carpets, the Cannes Film Festival is as much about the jaw-dropping couture as it is about the movies. This year's fest was no exception — from start to finish, we were treated to a lineup of A-list dressing. Given the nonstop glamour, it's not easy to play favorites, but we've narrowed it down to just a handful of the most stunning Cannes arrivals. Looks like Terry Richardson is just as comfortable in front of the camera as he is behind it. The photographer both shot and stars in Valentino's Fall 2013 accessories campaign.
In the images, which will debut in fashion magazines around the world starting today, Richardson's hands and tattooed forearms are seen holding the brand's Rockstud handbag and shoe — both in signature Valentino red. The house's co-creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri told WWD the images are supposed to evoke "the sensual yet elegant nature of our accessories, described as objects of desire."
While this is the first time Richardson has worked with Chiuri and her partner, Pierpaolo Piccioli, it's certainly not the first time he's appeared in one of his own campaigns. Last August, Richardson lensed an ad for jeweler David Webb that features both him and model Eniko Mihalik.

The 2013 Met Gala best-dressed set could easily be likened to the fashion Olympics, and this year's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition turnout made it harder than ever to pick only five gold-medal contenders. Beyoncé Knowles spared no head-turning detail in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture flame-embroidered gown; Gwyneth Paltrow stood out in a covered-up hot pink Valentino number; Rooney Mara played the edgy card in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture gown, complete with floral embroidery, zippers, ruffles, and a split-front opening; Jennifer Lawrence chose ladylike Dior (and that Jennifer Behr netted veil!); and Katie Holmes stunned in a downright ethereal custom Calvin Klein creation. Thanks to their black, sheer, and lacy gowns, this style set may have just had some of the sultriest looks to hit the Met Gala staircase. Joan Smalls perfected her supermodel smolder in a body-conscious embroidered Tom Ford gown — proof that covered up doesn't have to be conservative. The blond beauty shone bright in a vibrant pink Valentino gown, which came complete with a modern sheer inset.
