Vera Wang got sculptural for Fall 2013, adding volume to architectural shapes and playing with tones of layered jacquard prints. Moving away from the slim lace silhouettes of Spring 2013, the designer focused on stone and black looks for her opening, with domed cape backs on jackets and sleeveless vests — even having bandeaus snake under armholes to contrast tight fronts with voluminous backs. Evening emerged in a flash of violet sparkle with exaggerated peplums, printed chiffon blouses billowing over matching cigarette pants, and all-over beaded dresses. It was utterly elegant, formal without being stuffy, and one of the designer's tightest seasons in memory.
Vera Wang Adds Some Dimension to the Matte Lip Trend

Bold lips and matte finishes are huge for Fall 2013, and the crimson version at Vera Wang was the focal point of the overall beauty look. The hair was left wavy and slight undone, and the nails were a soft gray.
Who would wear it: We can see Florence Welch rocking this look.
Key products: Clé de Peau Extra Rich Lipstick in Mister Lincoln and Tuscany.
Trends: Bold, matte lips.
Makeup: Lucia Pieroni for Clé de Peau Beauté created the bold matte lip using the Extra Rich Lipstick in Mister Lincoln and Tuscany. To add dimension to the look, she used the lighter shade on top of and in the center of the lip. She kept the face bare with a touch of shimmering shadow on the lids, while lashes went mascara-free to let the lips take center stage. Bold brows finished off the palette to balance the intensity of the lipstick.
Hair: "The hair is about texture," said lead stylist Paul Hanlon for Moroccanoil. The hair was left down and ultimately tucked into the clothes before models walked the runway, so Hanlon made sure he brought defined texture to the hair. After wetting the hair and prepping it with Volumizing Mousse, he twisted sections with his hands while he blow-dried. To better frame the face, he went back with a curling iron and finished the look with hair spray for hold.
Nails: Lead manicurist Jin Soon Choi used her JinSoon nail polish in Auspicious. "It's a light gray, but has a hint of lavender for a softer, more elegant touch," Choi said.

Grammy Awards: Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman stepped onto the Grammys red carpet looking regal in a gold-embroidered lace gown by Vera Wang. The bodice featured a demure V neckline — but notice the sheer, leg-revealing hemline. The actress finished her gold gown with white drop earrings, a single metallic bracelet, and stick-straight hair. What do you think of Nicole's latest red-carpet style?

The Starlets of Warm Bodies Heat Things Up in NYC — Who Did It Best?
It may have been a snowy Friday evening in NYC, but that didn't put a damper on either Teresa Palmer's or Analeigh Tipton's outfit choices. In fact, the Warm Bodies starlets both donned sweet Springlike silhouettes for the film's screening, invoking a lighter, easier brand of styling. In effect, the ladies squared off in a sartorial battle of "who wore it best" last night, and we're letting you call the shots. But before you declare a winner, take a closer look at each chic contender's ensemble. Teresa paired a white Vera Wang embroidered crop top with a voluminous Vera Wang skirt, then finished it off with metallic Christian Louboutin sandals. Analeigh stepped out in an Alberta Ferretti sheer gray schoolgirl dress that got its charm via a seriously sparkly collar. Her black patent leather pumps completed the look. From our vantage point, we see two actresses that supplied outfit intrigue courtesy of key embellishment details, and still (expertly) managed to keep their respective looks fresh, youthful, and sleek. The question now is: who gets your best-dressed vote?

People's Choice Awards: Sandra Bullock
We're loving that the start of award season has Sandra Bullock back in the spotlight. While she didn't do the red carpet, she did glam up to accept her award — she's the first recipient of the People's Choice favorite humanitarian honors — opting for a slim-fit pinstriped pencil skirt and blue lace strapless top by Vera Wang. She offset the sophisticated feel with a flash of fuchsia on her pointed-toe pumps, then echoed the hue with a pop of pink on her lips. As for the rest, she didn't overdo the jewels, choosing just a bracelet and finishing with an oversize clutch in tow. What do you think of Sandra's return to the award show circuit?

Vera Wang Pre-Fall 2013
The line between dressing for the office and dressing for the opera gets obscured by rich damasks, fur trimmings, and gobs of costume jewelry in Vera Wang's Pre-Fall 2013 collection.
br>
The offering is heavy on the kind of sparkle generally associated with dressing for a special occasion, but applied to clothing that would otherwise look like daywear. A shift dress cut from a shiny orange and gray jacquard looked utterly luxurious paired with leather elbow-length gloves, but the suit trimmed with silk ruffles at the shoulders turns up the glamour in a different and unexpected way.
