I didn't know about preservation of clothing depending on the water temp but I typically just follow what the tags say.

cold not only keeps my heat/electric bill from being ridiculously high, it's also way better for the environment and my clothes!

I haven't done the laundry in 10 years. When I first got married my husband didn't like how I folded the clothes. He was very particular. So I said, "Fine, then you do it!" He has done his own laundry - and mine - ever since. Quite, happily, too. He lets me know when he is out of laundry detergent or dryer sheets. That's the closest to doing the laundry that I get.

Cold, I hate when my stuff shrinks and if I mix colors it never bleeds, I'm lazy so I mix everything!

I don't do my laundry, but if I am doing it I'll use cold for colors and hot for whites. I always hand wash my lingerie and the delicate stuff.

this is a good poll, of course that is better the cold whater for the clothes but in whites is better the hot.i don´t do my laundry but i know how wash mu clothes, i do sometimes but just sometimes

Cold and I hand wash a lot of things like all of my lingerie and delicate tops and tissue tees.

COLD! It's better for the environment (less heating and energy waste), costs less, and keeps your clothes longer! Just use a detergent made for cold water.

Mostly cold. I wash towels in warm water though.

Always cold! The only exceptions are severely stained kids clothes or towels, both of which I wash on warm. And then the hubbin's work out clothes which I wash on hot. Blech. Everything else cold - it's the only way to keep them fresh and new looking!
