This weekend, some of Hollywood's biggest names got together for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's third annual Art+Film Gala. The event, presented by Gucci, meant that the night's unofficial dress code included gorgeous gowns by the fashion house. It also meant a night filled with more celebrity skin than most red carpet gatherings. We're looking at the night's most notable looks, from Zoe Saldana showing off her sheer side (or sides, as it were) to Nicole Richie in a look that left little to the imagination. Click through for more statement-making styles from such stars as Drew Barrymore, Salma Hayek, and Olivia Wilde.
Award season may not have officially started just yet, but on Saturday night dozens of A-listers gathered in LA to attend a glamorous, star-studded event at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Kate Hudson, Salma Hayek, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Drew Barrymore dropped by LACMA's annual gala, which celebrates art and film. Naturally, since the party has to do with art, actor-turned-director-turned-artist James Franco made an appearance, and he mingled with Kate and Catherine Keener inside the bash. Meanwhile, Leonardo stayed close to his Wolf of Wall Street director Martin Scorsese but did break away to chat with Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher, and Tom Hanks, whom he may be competing against in the best actor category this award season.
On Friday, Leo also dropped by LACMA to stand in for Martin at a screening of Rebel Without a Cause, which was restored by Martin's Film Foundation. Martin was apparently still in NYC, working on The Wolf of Wall Street, which hits theaters this month, but he made it out for the museum's party this weekend.
Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, and Daniel Radcliffe are a handful the latest stars to sign on for surprising new roles. Emile Hirsch has been cast as the late comedian John Belushi, while Sigourney Weaver and Noomi Rapace have scored parts in upcoming sci-fi films. Welcome to another wonderful week full of promising casting news! Click through to see all the latest tidbits from Hollywood.
Zoe Saldana and her husband, Marco Perego, still have that newlywed glow after secretly tying the knot in London this Summer. The actress and her Italian artist lover were spotted whispering sweet nothings to each other while running errands and heading to a movie in LA yesterday. Even going about everyday business is a romantic outing for these two, who also put their love on display earlier this week in Venice Beach, CA. On Monday, Zoe rested her head on Marco's shoulder as he gave her a kiss, all while carrying her Chanel handbag around his neck. In their latest outing, the couple's adorable dog took the cuteness to an even higher level. It seems like Zoe and Marco might get a chance to enjoy even more newlywed downtime, since Zoe just wrapped production on the sci-fi film Guardians of the Galaxy.
Zoe Saldana and her husband, artist Marco Perego, showed sweet PDA while hanging out in the Venice Beach neighborhood of LA on Monday. As the couple waited to cross the street, Zoe laid her head on Marco's shoulder as he placed a smooch on her forehead (all while carrying her Chanel handbag around his neck). We haven't seen much of Zoe since she and Marco quietly tied the knot back in June — the couple reportedly married in a supersecret ceremony in London over the Summer, and Zoe was spotted wearing a giant ring on her left hand in September. Zoe recently wrapped filming on the sci-fi adventure flick Guardians of the Galaxy with Chris Pratt and Lee Pace (fun fact: Zoe's ex-boyfriend Bradley Cooper also lends his voice to a character in the movie). The actress tweeted a photo of herself enjoying a cocktail during a postproduction getaway, saying, "A vacation after #guardiansofthegalaxy picture wrap," though it isn't clear where she headed to relax.
Congratulations are in order for Zoe Saldana, who secretly said "I do" to Marco Perego in June. We're especially eager to see the gown, as Zoe's been flying high on our fashion radar for a while now — and after years of red carpet observation, we're convinced the actress and humanitarian can do no styling wrong. In the beginning of her acting career — how could we forget Center Stage? — the Dominican and Puerto Rican beauty worked the red carpet in belly-baring tops and bohemian skirts. Since then, Zoe has refined her style with sophisticated silhouettes and edgier accents from the likes of good friend Prabal Gurung, Givenchy, Balmain, and Elie Saab. From casually cunning daywear to ultrasleek evening gowns, Zoe excels at injecting her cool-girl style into every look she dons. In honor of her nuptials, we're taking a look back at her impressive fashion résumé.
Zoe Saldana is a married woman, and she has been since June! Us Weekly reports that the actress secretly tied the knot with Marco Perego in a supersecret ceremony in London back in June. The actress has been doing a good job of keeping her marriage under wraps, as she wasn't sporting a wedding band or an engagement ring when she attended Comic-Con in San Diego to promote Guardians of the Galaxy in July. However, she was spotted wearing a simple gold band on her wedding ring finger when she attended the Audi International Polo event in England in July, although her new accessory went unnoticed at the time. Earlier this month, Zoe was spotted wearing a blinged-out ring on her finger (see below), which drew attention to the possibility of a relationship status change. They have been dating since mid-May and were first seen packing on the PDA at an afterparty for Zoe's Star Trek Into Darkness in LA. Congratulations and best wishes to Zoe and Marco!
After Kate Middleton and little Prince George claimed so much of our attention for the past few weeks, it felt totally natural to get more stylish news out of England. The Audi International Polo game happened over the weekend, bringing out pretty ladies who looked dressed for a proper British afternoon. We're still stuck deciding whether Naomie Harris and her graphic sheath and Rupert Sanderson heels beat out Alice Eve in summery white or Zoe Saldana in smoking red and white. At Comic-Con, Marvel unveiled the cast for its next superhero feature film, The Guardians of the Galaxy, starring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, and the very beautiful, very bald Karen Gillan as Nebula. The movie is set in a lesser-known part of the Marvel Universe based on the 2008, modernized version of interstellar heroes that appear in various comic books.
"It's an antihero superhero movie. They're thieves, rebels, and assassins learning very big lessons," Zoe said at the postpanel press conference. From what the cast revealed at the Comic-Con panel, the Guardians of the Galaxy are ex-mercenaries and convicts charged with protecting the universe.
There's "85 percent of the movie still left to shoot," according to Zoe. Much of the film's plot is still a mystery, and we wanted to explore the backstory of these Guardians as dictated by Marvel canon. Who are they really? In what follows, see the actors' take on their characters and a short history of each Guardian, as portrayed in Marvel comics. But beware: if you're totally unfamiliar with the Marvel universe, there may be spoilers ahead!
Celebrities flocked to San Diego this weekend for Comic-Con to dish all about their upcoming movies. We have to give it to Jennifer Lawrence for trying out yet another crop top on the red carpet and to Zoe Saldana for her overalls-inspired jumpsuit. Watch on to find out who else made our best-dressed list.
