We're thrilled to present InStyle's exciting, exclusive story here on Fab!

January Jones, the face of Versace this season, chose a red gown with a plunging neckline by the label for her Golden Globes appearance. “I had seen the dress at the runway show in another color and I got it in red,” the Mad Men star said of her look, which featured fringe strands from top to bottom. So what was the original hue for this gown? An eye-popping cyan blue, first spotted at the brand’s spring 2011 runway show (shown).

We're thrilled to present InStyle's exciting, exclusive story here on Fab!

All eyes will be on our February cover girl Natalie Portman in the coming months. The actress (and new face of Miss Dior Cherie) is nominated for a Best Actress Golden Globe for her role in Black Swan and she recently announced that she was engaged and pregnant with choreographer Benjamin Millepied, who she met on the set of the film. “This is the most private of private experiences,” Portman told InStyle. “But I am completely awed by the whole process we are living through. I cannot express how lucky I feel.” Next up, she’s starring in the romantic comedy No Strings Attached alongside Ashton Kutcher, out January 21st. But are women really capable of no-strings attached sex? “I certainly have friends who could deal with that and others who could not,” she said. “It’s something I’ve seen in high-achieving women—they compartmentalize. You’ve got your work, your friends, your exercise, and your sex. [Grins.] You can tick off those boxes.” For more of our exclusive interview with Portman, check out the February issue of InStyle, on newsstands Friday!

Emily Blunt attended the premiere of Gulliver's Travels in Hollywood over the weekend in a color-block dress by Roksanda Ilincic. The look featured an aquamarine top, which was perfectly offset by the attached tan skirt and a sliver of amethyst purple at the waist. Other celebrities are loving the way a beige skirt looks with a bright top, too: Kim Kardashian wore a sequined petal skirt with a ruby cowl neck blouse in London a few months ago, and Blake Lively wore a vibrant blue top by Gypsy 05 with a tan skort by Wayne on Gossip Girl this season. See more examples here.

Our January Cover Girl Is . . . Gwyneth Paltrow!

We're thrilled to present our favorite InStyle story here on Fab!
Gwyneth Paltrow showed off her singing voice by guest-starring on Glee this season, but turns out, that was only a warm-up! The Oscar-winning actress, GOOP.com editor, mother of two and our January cover girl turned herself into a full-blown singer for her role in the upcoming movie Country Strong, in theaters January 7th. “I’ve never prepared for anything more in my life,” Paltrow told us. “There was studying with an accent coach, learning to play guitar, and of course the singing. My voice didn’t have any power or strength at all, and I wanted to try and sing properly.” And she’s proud of how it turned out: “You know, last night when I was watching the film, I thought, This is the best job I’ve ever done,” she said. “Normally I can’t stand to see myself, but with this film I felt like it all came together, all that hard work and putting myself in such an uncomfortable position where I felt so scared of how I was going to do it. I’m happy with how it turned out. I am.” For more of our exclusive interview with Paltrow, check out the January issue of InStyle, on newsstands Friday.

Ann Taylor Challenged Rising Designers to Modernize the Idea of Career-Wear

Updated 12/08/10 2:35 PM · Posted by InStyle · 0 comments

We're thrilled to present our favorite InStyle story here on Fab!

Ann Taylor took part in this year’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, which annually selects 10 rising designer finalists to compete in challenges to win a grand prize that includes $300,000 and a year’s worth of mentorship. For its part, Ann Taylor tasked the group with modernizing the idea of career wear for the Everywoman. While the CFDA announced the winner last month—congrats Billy Reid!—Ann Taylor just released photos of all of the designs, which include metallic cuffs, tailored trousers, and updated trenches. We hoped these 10 looks were going to be available in all stores, but a spokesperson for Ann Taylor confirmed that the one-of-a-kind pieces are instead going to be auctioned in January and on display in the company’s Flatiron District store in New York City. See all 10 rising designers' re-interpretation of workwear in the gallery.
