Memorial Day is on Monday, and the holiday is not just for barbecues and picnics, but also a time to honor the men and women who have served our country. Many of our favorite stars have a special tie to the day, since they grew up with a parent who served. Jessica Alba's father was in the US Air Force, while Christina Aguilera hails from an Army family. Reese Witherspoon is the daughter of a lieutenant colonel from the US Army Reserve, and Bruce Willis is the son of a former US soldier as well. In honor of the day of remembrance, we are taking a look at all the stars who come from military families.

What started as a tragic diagnosis turned into one of the year's most inspirational stories thanks to one brave teen's determination to leave the world a better place. At age 14, Zach Sobiech was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and he was given just months to live last June. After a four-year fight, Zach lost his battle with the disease on Monday at the age of 18. But what he left behind is larger than life. He created a 22-minute film, Last Days: Meet Zach Sobiech, which details his inspirational outlook on life while battling cancer. The film, which is posted above, has spread quickly on social networks and been watched over four million times on YouTube.

Zach turned to music as a way of dealing with his illness, which resulted in "Clouds," a song he originally penned as a token of remembrance for his family and friends. The song instantly turned into an Internet sensation, and the video for "Clouds" went viral on YouTube back in December, attracting the attention of a slew of celebrities. Rainn Wilson, Anna Farris, Rachel Bilson, and Ed Helms are just a few of the famous faces to lend their support in the form of a tribute video to help Zach's mission of spreading awareness for those suffering from his rare form of cancer. Today, "Clouds" reached the No. 1 spot on iTunes with every download donating to his fund, which is testament to how many people he has touched with his story. Nina Ricci-clad Carey Mulligan wielded an umbrella to premiere The Great Gatsby in rainy Sydney today. She had the help of costars Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton and director Baz Luhrmann to debut the film Down Under while Joel Madden, who is currently a judge on the Oz version of The Voice, was also in attendance. Last night wasn't the first time the Gatsby crew donned umbrellas as accessories since their Cannes premiere last week got rained on as well.

Mr. Gatsby himself, Leonardo DiCaprio, didn't make it to the latest press stop since he's still in Cannes unwinding. After wrapping his work duties, he let loose flirting in a Cannes nightclub over the weekend and later hit the water to take part in the yacht scene. Isla Fisher also missed out on the premiere in her native Australia since she debuted her other project Now You See Me in NYC last night.

Brad Pitt: "I Haven't Known Life to Be Any Happier"

Brad Pitt traded his signature all-black wardrobe for a white ensemble to pose for the June/July issue of Esquire, which will debut on newsstands May 31.

Brad Pitt traded his signature all-black wardrobe for a white ensemble to pose for the June/July issue of Esquire, which will debut on newsstands May 31. Brad is embarking on promotional duties for his latest film, World War Z, which hits US theaters next month, but the focus of his Esquire interview fell mainly on the importance of his family. A close friend of Brad's even shared story for the article to illustrate just how loving things can get within the Jolie-Pitt household revealing, "Once I walked in and Angie was standing there and Zahara walked up and said, 'Daddy, you're not going to start making out with Mommy again, are you?' And it's like that. This is a guy who has tried not to do any sexy scenes with other women since he's met Angelina. He's crazy about her, and she's the same way about him."

The interview was conducted before the news of Angelina Jolie's preventative double mastectomy was revealed, which Brad did not allude to during the feature. In addition to praising his long-time partner, he also spoke candidly about finding happiness and addressed the interesting reason behind why he likes to stay at home. Here's more from Brad Pitt in Esquire:

  • On family: "I have a handful of close friends and I have my family and I haven't known life to be any happier. I always thought that if I wanted to do a family, I wanted to do it big. I wanted there to be chaos in the house. There's constant chatter in our house, whether it's giggling or screaming or crying or banging. I love it. I love it. I love it."
  • On Angelina: "Angie is the best person."
  • On catching flak for his poor recollection skills: "So many people hate me because they think I'm disrespecting them. So I swear to God, I took one year where I just said, 'This year, I'm just going to cop to it and say to people, "OK, where did we meet?"' But it just got worse. People were more offended. Every now and then, someone will give me context, and I'll say, 'Thank you for helping me.' But I piss more people off. You get this thing, like, 'You're being egotistical. You're being conceited.' But it's a mystery to me, man. I can't grasp a face and yet I come from such a design/aesthetic point of view. I am going to get it tested. That's why I stay at home."
