Johnny Depp and good friend Keith Richards were a matching pair in fedoras leaving dinner in London last night. Depp is in the UK straight from a few days filming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in Puerto Rico with his newly revealed-to-be-pregnant costar Penelope Cruz. His summer working on Pirates looked a lot like vacation as he hit the beach in LA and relaxed with his bikini-clad lady Vanessa Paradis when on location in Hawaii. Ryan Reynolds was the man of the hour at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of Buried last night. The movie, which takes place entirely inside a box where Ryan is trapped, was among Buzz's favorites at Sundance and is gaining more glowing reviews. Ryan and Scarlett Johansson are coming up on their second wedding anniversary later this month, though in keeping with their private nature he brought his mom Tammy as a date instead. Ryan is among the many hot guys stopping through Canada and the well-dressed actor has more promotional appearances ahead before Buried's Sept. 24 release. Ben had the support of his cast, along with his friend, and fellow Beantown native, Matt Damon. While the stars of the film were dressed up, Matt and pregnant Luciana looked ready for a ballgame in jeans. Blake Lively's boyfriend Penn Badgley joined her for the journey up from NY after Regis and Kelly yesterday morning. Jon Hamm also had his partner Jennifer Westfeldt on his arm, while Jeremy Renner and Rebecca Hall were solo. Ben's wife Jennifer Garner is home in LA with their daughters, though she stopped by TIFF with him last weekend. Ben recently spoke about what it means to make Boston films, saying, "Boston is a place that — and I was the same way, living there — that likes to see itself reflected, likes its own, likes to see a reflection of its values. New York doesn’t so much care about a New York movie. . . But Boston knows. Boston knows if you’re from there. . . It means something to them."

Hopefully, the longtime best friends will patch things up and until then, she seems very happy with her guy. Chelsea Handler played capable host at the 2010 MTV VMAs on Sunday in LA. After the handsome guys and fashionable women hit the white carpet they took their seats for a roller coaster of an evening. Eminem and surprise guest Rihanna were first to hit the stage, then Chelsea had Lindsay Lohan's help opening the show. Eminem left and flew back to NYC for his concerts with Jay-Z right after his performance, which meant he couldn't accept any of his awards. He and Lady Gaga were the big winners of the night, and check out the whole list on BuzzSugar. Justin Bieber of course had all the girls screaming with his outdoor performance while his mentor Usher showed off his amazing dance moves on stage. Taylor Swift's ballad about Kanye West was one of the most talked-about moments, and she went barefoot to contrast her D&G dress.
Chelsea got into a hot tub with the cast of Jersey Shore and emerged with a big fake pregnancy belly, but it was Cher's stomach-baring outfit that stole the show. Cher stepped out looking like a blast from the past to hand Video of the Year out to Lady Gaga. Katy Perry joined Nicki Minaj to present an award, during which Katy joked about meeting her fiance Russell Brand at the 2009 VMAs. Russell didn't accompany Katy this time around, though she brought him on her manicure. Kanye closed the show with his new anthem, "Runaway," in which he called for everyone to "raise a toast to the douche bags" implying that he is one of them after interrupting Taylor last year. Overall it was a fairly tame VMAs as the stars headed out to keep celebrating at all the afterparties.

She sang a powerful ballad, which is getting a mixed response, while Kanye surprised the crowd with an over-the-top anthem. He acknowledged his own mistakes by raising a "toast to the douche bags" and rapping about his bad behavior with women. While it's an unconventional apology at best, he did say he recently wrote a song for Taylor Swift in apology.
