Gap Launches (Product) Red

I've been telling you about a lot of pink products that raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I've been telling you about a lot of pink products that raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But you may notice that today, FabSugar is wearing red—specifically, Gap (Product) Red. This special line of clothing is part of the larger (Product) Red initiative, a charitable organization started by Bobby Shriver and Bono, who'll appear on Oprah today, to raise awareness about AIDS in Africa. As one of the project's main partners, Gap will donate half of all of the proceeds from this line to the Global Fund, which supports AIDS research and the distribution of antiviral drugs in Africa. As a handy bonus, the clothes are cute too; I particularly love the Reverse Print Sweater below. Here's what you can buy to back the cause.

Word V-Neck T, $28, available in four colors here.

Reverse Print Sweater, $50, available in two colors here.

Pantene Goes to Beautiful Lengths

Lots of cosmetics companies are making adorable pink products to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

Lots of cosmetics companies are making adorable pink products to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. But the always-reliable Pantene haircare brand is helping the cancer-research cause year-round. In July, it launched the Beautiful Lengths campaign, when spokeswoman Diane Lane chopped off her locks live on the Today Show. Now, through a partnership with the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Pantene is encouraging women to grow out their hair and donate it, so that it can be used to make wigs for cancer survivors. The hair company also donated an impressive $1 million to the EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund, which supports research and helps women suffering from cancer. Five Smart Shopping Tips

We all wish we could shop like Paris Hilton, but unfortunately, most of us have to worry about a little something called a budget.

We all wish we could shop like Paris Hilton, but unfortunately, most of us have to worry about a little something called a budget. But being a frugal shopper doesn't mean having to buy all of your clothes at Wal-Mart. So, since I spend so much time on FabSugar telling you what to buy, I thought today I'd offer a few tips on how to be a smart shopper and still get plenty of fabulous stuff. Here are my five most important pieces of advice.

  • Don't buy something just because it's cheap. Before you succumb to a major bargain, ask yourself: Would I buy this if it were full price? If so, get it. If not, consider leaving it behind. If you aren't in love with it, it's just going to clog up your closet. Save your money for something nice instead.
  • If you have to buy it on credit, don't buy it. I know you've heard it before, but hear it again: Credit card debt is very bad. If you can't afford something at the ticket price, you certainly can't afford the real price—that is, the amount you'll end up paying after all the credit-card interest.

Pretty in Plaid Dresses

We all know that plaid is huge this Fall.

We all know that plaid is huge this Fall. If you're looking for a way to wear it, why not try a plaid dress? There's just something really fun and unexpected about this look. Plaid has a slightly preppy, British feel, but using it in a dress gives the pattern a funky edge. Here are some of my favorite plaid dresses, both aspirational and obtainable.

Zac Posen Tartan Dress, $2,600, available here.

Alexander McQueen Plaid Ruffle Dress, $6,965, available here.

Kay Unger New York Strapless Plaid Dress, $430, available here.

L.A.M.B. Scoop Neck Dress, $365, available here.

Zit Zappers

Zits, pimples, blemishes, whatever you want to call them: They are all different names for what happens to your skin when an oil gland mixes with dead skin cells and causes clogging in your pores.

Zits, pimples, blemishes, whatever you want to call them: They are all different names for what happens to your skin when an oil gland mixes with dead skin cells and causes clogging in your pores. If the surface of the pore breaks, it becomes red and swollen—hence, a zit. Zits can be found on the faces and bodies of over 70 million people, but that doesn't make them any less annoying.

Though there are ways to prevent pimples, the bigger challenge is getting rid of them once they surface. Rule No. 1: Don't pop them, ever! Despite the feeling of satisfaction you may feel, messing with your zits can spread infection and lead to scarring. Instead, try one of these zit-zapping products to help dry them up and kick the remaining bacteria out.

Mario Bedescu Drying Lotion is an excellent spot treatment made with a blend of calamine and salicylic acid. This product really helps to clear up and soothe pimples. Just take a q-tip and dab the lotion on the area. It does leave a pink mark on your face, so wear it overnight. Buy it here for $17.
