Cute Vintage-Style Compacts

Ok, maybe one of these days, I'll get over my obsession with pretty compacts, but until then, I'll be eyeing this Urban Outfitters Vintage Mirror Compact, which is an incredible bargain, selling here for just $8.

Ok, maybe one of these days, I'll get over my obsession with pretty compacts, but until then, I'll be eyeing this Urban Outfitters Vintage Mirror Compact, which is an incredible bargain, selling here for just $8. This classic-looking compact opens up to a double-sided mirror, and the cute case comes with a choice of two graphics: a powder puff or a perfume bottle. This handy mirror would look great inside an evening bag, and the low price makes it a great gift to buy for all of your girlfriends.

Look of the Day

Look of the Day: Going to the Zoo

It takes serious confidence to rock a fedora and vest combo on a trip to the zoo.

It takes serious confidence to rock a fedora and vest combo on a trip to the zoo. But ShoeS pulls off the trendy look with flawless flair and without looking the least bit silly. For that reason, her super-hip trip to the zoo outfit is today's hands-down winner for the TeamSugar Look Book Look of the Day. (To learn how to upload you own looks, click here.) Here's how she put the look together.

  • Vest: Urban Outfitters

Old School Lipstick Shades We Love

If you're like me and you love to play with makeup, then you can appreciate finding affordable and fabulous drugstore cosmetics to throw into the vast mix that is your makeup bag.

If you're like me and you love to play with makeup, then you can appreciate finding affordable and fabulous drugstore cosmetics to throw into the vast mix that is your makeup bag. For example, if you are going to try the smoky eye look, then you've got to downplay your lips. But if you are just going to wear some mascara, then you'll need something with a little more color. So why not try some tried and true lipsticks from the 1980s and early 1990s? Here are a few of my favorites.

Revlon Super Lustrous Pearl Lipstick in Silver City Pink is an oldie but goodie. It's smooth and rich in color, and if you are going for a dramatic effect on your eyes, this is a fantastic, pale shade that suits all eye colors. Buy it here for $5.03.

Remember how cool it was when professional makeup became mainstream? The deep, neutral M.A.C. Lipstick in Taupe came out around the same time as Bobbi Brown's brownish lipsticks and natural-looking eyes became popular. After a decade of blue eyeliner and hot-pink blush, it was definitely a welcome change. Buy it here for $14.

Hot Brand: Original Penguin Clothing

The stars were out in full force at last night's An Original Penguin Party, and after seeing Paris Hilton and Stacy Keibler try on this adorable coat, I thought I'd see what the brand was all about, since I've never actually bought a piece of Penguin clothing.

The stars were out in full force at last night's An Original Penguin Party, and after seeing Paris Hilton and Stacy Keibler try on this adorable coat, I thought I'd see what the brand was all about, since I've never actually bought a piece of Penguin clothing. But I was delighted to discover that the retro brand's Fall and Winter 2006 lines are at once classic and trendy with playful cuts and colors. Here's a look at some of my favorite Penguin picks.

Marion Crane Novelty 3/4 Sleeve Peacoat, $450, available here.

Come Fab Finding With Me: Very Casual Friday

I don't know about you, but I often like to start my weekend early with a fun night out on Thursday—perhaps with a happy hour or a long, wine-drinking dinner.

I don't know about you, but I often like to start my weekend early with a fun night out on Thursday—perhaps with a happy hour or a long, wine-drinking dinner. That means that come Friday morning, I tend to go for the very casual in my work attire. The key is finding clothes that are very comfy but look like I made at least some semblance of an effort, such as this Anthropologie Cutaway Cardigan, available here for $68. This very affordable sweater has a blazer-like feel but it's as comfy as my favorite weekend hoodie.

So let's all go Fab Finding for some other dressed-down pieces that look dressed up, including a top, bottoms, and shoes. Be sure to come back and tell us that your Fab Finds are up, or just tag your Fab Finds with the phrase "Casual Friday." To learn what a Fab Find is and how to make one, click here. Sweater Dresses

Surprisingly Flattering Sweater Dresses

I used to think that sweater dresses were reserved for people with bodies like Kate Moss.

I used to think that sweater dresses were reserved for people with bodies like Kate Moss. But lately, I've seen women of all shapes and sizes wearing them and looking great, which makes me even more excited to incorporate sweater dresses into my wardrobe. This is a really cute look with skinny jeans, textured tights, or leggings. Here are some styles at designer and non-designer prices likely to flatter almost every figure.

Handbag Designer Spotlight: Devi Kroell

Think of handbag designer Devi Kroell as Chloe's or Miu Miu's exotic little sister.

Think of handbag designer Devi Kroell as Chloe's or Miu Miu's exotic little sister. The line's namesake spent her formative years jumping between Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, France, and Italy, and as a result, her look is at once very far-flung and highly luxurious.

Adorned with bold, simple hardware, Kroell's minimalist bags are constructed out of python, anaconda, and other reptilian skins in a bazaar of bright colors. You can buy the bags online at Barneys and select Nordstrom stores, and the brand counts Ashlee Simpson, Sienna Miller, Selma Blair, Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon, and Demi Moore among its fans. Here are some of my favorite looks.

Devi Kroell Nile Perch Shoulder Bag, about $2,261, available here.

Devi Kroell Gramercy Bag Medium in Anaconda, $2,190, available here.

Devi Kroell Classic Hobo in Red, $3,990, available here.

Love It or Hate It

Manolo Blahnik Camouflage Pump: Love It or Hate It?

On paper, this shoe sounds like an utter disaster: a camouflage print on satiny fabric, adorned with rhinestone buckles and fashioned into a four-inch pump.

On paper, this shoe sounds like an utter disaster: a camouflage print on satiny fabric, adorned with rhinestone buckles and fashioned into a four-inch pump. If someone had described this shoe to me before I had seen it, I would have anticipated wretched ugliness. And yet for some reason I can't help but love this Manolo Blahnik Jeweled D'Orsay Pump, available for $645 here. I love the way the elegant silhouette and the jeweled detailing on the vamp contrasts with the camo pattern for a very funky look. However, this is definitely a bold shoe that I can see many people disliking, so tell me whether you love it or hate it!
