I have a confession: I am not blond like my animated persona. Not right now anyway. Mid-summer I dyed my hair a strawberry blond and have received so many compliments I may ride it through the winter. I recently noticed I have bought a lot of clothing items in heather grey; this color looks fab on redheads! It's also a very versatile color. I often wear it with yellow, as well as other brights. When I'm feeling sporty, it's the color of choice. And heather grey with black feels very modern and architectural. Lucky for me, retailers concur because the light grey hue is omnipresent. You've seen the post on the fabulous selection of creamy chic cheek sweeps, but these highly pigmented warm winter blushes are powder-based and bright enough to wipe out winter wash-out. Using the same colored blush from summer can look too strong against paler skin. Opt for more of a brownish, brick color that will add depth and a sensual flushed look.
Application: start by applying powder blush to the apples of your cheeks and blending downward. For more color, lightly and carefully dab a brighter blush on just the apples of your cheeks and add a highlighter on your upper cheekbones for a little shimmer.
One of my all time favorite winter powder blush colors is Laura Mercier Cheek Colour in Blushing Apple. This is a natural color with a soft finish and will stay on all day. It blends easily and has a very soft shimmer to it . Buy it here for $22.

This tailored dress reminds me of Alexander McQueen's early days. While I am a huge McQueen fan I realize not everyone finds his off-kilter tailoring very wearable.
