San Francisco Fashion Week Designer: Kelly B

It's telling that San Francisco-based designer Kelly Barry started out as an environmental science major at the University of Colorado.

It's telling that San Francisco-based designer Kelly Barry started out as an environmental science major at the University of Colorado. Her Kelly B clothing line, featured at San Francisco Fashion Week, is made entirely from organic cotton and other organic fibers. (To learn more about organic cotton, read here.)

Kelly B's comfy, casual knits mix a trendy '80s vibe with playful nautical accents. Black capri leggings are lined with brass buttons, while anchor embroidery adorns the back pockets of a miniskirt. To see some of the highlights from her Spring/Summer 2007 runway collection, read more

How To: Create Fabulous Cheek Contours

If only we could all be born with naturally high and defined cheek bones.

If only we could all be born with naturally high and defined cheek bones. Most of us, however, need a little help to get the perfect contour and shape. Here's how to create that model-esque look in three easy steps.

  • First, apply a foundation that's one or two shades darker than your skin tone to the area of your cheeks that hollows out when you pucker up. Blend well, so that there's no line. I recommend MAC Cosmetics Hooked Bronzing Powder which you can buy here for $19.50.
  • Next, use a peachy apricot or a brown-based blush on the apples of your cheeks and be sure to blend well. I really like Nars Blush in Gina for medium skin tones or Orgasm for fairer skin. You can buy them here for $25.
  • Lastly, shine and define. Use a light golden or shimmery yellowish powder on the area right above your cheekbones. One swipe with the brush should be enough for a glowing accent. I recommend Diane Von Furstenberg Eclipse Highlighting Powder in Sunshine. Buy it here for $30.

Last Thursday on Popsugar, we posted a pic of Cameron Diaz sporting a newly dark 'do. But Fabsugar readers were more interested in where to get her hot jeans. Not surprisingly, the jeans are from boyfriend Justin Timberlake's clothing line, William Rast. Cameron, who's a big denim fan, thinks the jeans make her butt look perfect.

The pair she's wearing look to be the William Rast Savoy Ultra Low Trouser in Evening. You can buy a pair for $233 here.

I love the way this Marc by Marc Jacobs Cynthia Jersey Dress, available for $358 here, looks atop a thin ribbed sweater.

I love the way this Marc by Marc Jacobs Cynthia Jersey Dress, available for $358 here, looks atop a thin ribbed sweater. It's an effortless daytime look and a great way to toe the line between summer and fall fashion.

But to really wear fall's trendy muti-layered look, this outfit needs some more elements—possibly a long cardigan and some leggings? Let's all go Fab Finding to shop for the remaining layers and accessories. Be creative, and be sure to come back and tell us all what you found!

Origins

The Facts on Friction

When I was in my early 20s, the phrase "tired-looking skin" wasn't even in my vocabulary.

When I was in my early 20s, the phrase "tired-looking skin" wasn't even in my vocabulary. But lately, dull, worn-out skin has been one of my biggest beauty woes. So this weekend, in an attempt to brighten up my face, I bought my first jar of Origins Modern Friction, $36, available here. The gentle dermabrasion scrub, made from rice starch, promises to slough away dead skin cells and even out your complexion.

Because I have sensitive skin, I've always been wary of dermabrasion. But when the Origins sales lady demonstrated the scrub on my hand and I felt the silky smooth results, I was hooked. Plus, it's incredibly easy to use: You apply the scrub on your face when it's dry, then add just a splash of water and massage it in for a few minutes. Your skin will come out looking brighter and feeling creamy. Also, rumor has it that Origins will soon be launching Modern Friction for the body, so stay tuned.

Why Buy Organic Jeans?

You're probably not eating denim for dinner, so why should you care if your jeans are organic?

You're probably not eating denim for dinner, so why should you care if your jeans are organic? There's actually a very good reason to buy jeans made from organic cotton. While cotton only represents about 3 percent of the world's crop production, conventionally grown cotton is responsible for an estimated 25 percent of the world's insecticide use and 12 percent of its pesticides. That means it has a highly negative impact on the environment and can contaminate water sources. Organic cotton, on the other hand, is farmed without the use of insecticides and other chemicals. Thankfully, there are a ton of premium denim brands cropping up that use organic cotton in their clothes. Here's a look at some of the most stylishly responsible brands.

Del Forte Denim
A portion of sales from these 100 percent organic cotton jeans, designed by Tierra Del Forte, go to support the Sustainable Cotton Project. To list a list of boutiques that carry Del Forte, click here.
