Inspiration: Ballerinas

We all know that pretty flats are hot for Fall, but I can't help but notice several other ballerina-inspired silhouettes traipsing into stores and fashion magazines—not to mention some shoes that look almost exactly like ballet slippers.

We all know that pretty flats are hot for Fall, but I can't help but notice several other ballerina-inspired silhouettes traipsing into stores and fashion magazines—not to mention some shoes that look almost exactly like ballet slippers. The greatest thing is you don't have to look like a dancer to pull off these highly flattering styles. Here are some of my favorite ballet-inspired fashions this season.

Moschino Embellished Prom Dress, $2,995, available here.

Calvin Klein Footwear Sari Soft Ballet Flat, $90, available here.

Fab Finding

Fab Finding Follow-Up: Affordable Work Attire

On Wednesday, I asked you guys to come fab finding with me for some affordable work attire to go with this Bow Pencil Skirt, available for $39.50 here.

On Wednesday, I asked you guys to come fab finding with me for some affordable work attire to go with this Bow Pencil Skirt, available for $39.50 here. The only hitch was that no item could be over $50, but it still had to look expensive.

All I can say is, wow. These are by far some of the best Fab Finds I've seen yet. I guess everyone needs affordable work attire! What's interesting is that every Fab Finder went with a very different look. (To learn what a Fab Find is and how to make one, click here.) Here are the three great affordable work ensembles that Teamsugar's fabulous Fab Finders found.

Look #1 by Crispet1, who paired the skirt with an ivory top (shown here in a print) and gold and brown accessories.

Victoria's Secret

Thong-ternatives

Lately, it seems as if everyone is wearing thongs and swearing up and down that they really are more comfortable than non-thong panties.

Lately, it seems as if everyone is wearing thongs and swearing up and down that they really are more comfortable than non-thong panties. But if you’re still not buying that line, there are plenty of non-thong alternatives capable of fighting VPL—that is, visible panty lines. You just have to know which style to wear under what. Here are my top three choices.

Gap Ultra-Low Modal Teeny Bikini, $4.99, available here. This delicate panty is my favorite to wear with jeans, because it stays put but doesn't cut into the skin.

Sigg

Hydrate in Style

We all know that drinking water is good for your health and your skin.

We all know that drinking water is good for your health and your skin. Now, thanks to Swiss water-bottle company Sigg, staying hydrated is stylish, too. The company's lightweight, leak-proof bottles are made from aluminum and coated with enamel, so you don't get that plasticy taste like you do from a Nalgene. But the best thing about Sigg water bottles and mugs is that they come in dozens of hip patterns and colors, so you can choose the one that best suits your look. Here are some of my favorite Sigg styles.

Bubbles Lifestyle 1.0 Liter Bottle, $19.99, available here.

Summer Bird Lifestyle 0.6 Liter Bottle, $18.99, available here.

Party Dresses

Party in Polka Dots

Polka-dotted dresses—like the one Jessica Simpson wore to the Employee of the Month premiere—are popping up everywhere.

Polka-dotted dresses—like the one Jessica Simpson wore to the Employee of the Month premiere—are popping up everywhere. Sure, Jess looked a little weird that night, but I love her dress. Overall, I think polka-dot dresses are fun and flirty and a great option for a party dress that stands out. Here's a look at some of my favorite polka-dotted finds.

Nanette Lepore Faye Dunaway Shirtdress, $320, available here.

Eliza J Mesh Dot Party Dress, $118, available here.

Biba

Biba is Back!

Biba is hardly a household name in the United States, but across the pond, the British retailer is legendary.

Biba is hardly a household name in the United States, but across the pond, the British retailer is legendary. Founded in 1964 by Barbara Hulanicki, Biba started as a hip and exclusive London boutique and by the 1970s had grown into a fashionable department store attracting fans such as Mick Jagger, Twiggy, and Racquel Welch. Much like Topshop today, the store was both fashion-forward and affordable to the masses.

Biba closed in 1975, but now designer Bella Freud is relaunching the label, starting with a recent Spring 2007 runway show at London Fashion Week. The clothes are somewhat higher priced this time around but also highly reminiscent of 1960s and '70s London cool. To check out the new Biba line, read more

Lip Plumpers

Ooh-La-La Lip Plumpers

Personally, I am not a huge fan of the bee-stung throbbing feeling you get from lip plumpers, but I know that more often than not, there is a price to pay for beauty.

Personally, I am not a huge fan of the bee-stung throbbing feeling you get from lip plumpers, but I know that more often than not, there is a price to pay for beauty. If your goal is super-sized smackers, then these glosses are a better option than collagen or restylane injections that leave your lips in a perma-pucker. Here are my top three choices for lip plumpers.

Freeze 24▪7 PlumpLips IceSticks are meant to create a sexy and full lip look. This gloss is bursting with sheer color in a formula that ensures moistness, smoothness, and shine. Through advanced technology, circulation on the lip surface is increased, and the drying, burning, and irritation associated with most lip plumpers is eliminated. Buy it here for $42.50. Available in six color choices and a clear gloss.

Winter Boots

Wonderful Winter Boots

As the rainy, chilly winter days creep closer, it's time to start shopping the all-weather shoes that will get you through the winter.

As the rainy, chilly winter days creep closer, it's time to start shopping the all-weather shoes that will get you through the winter. Though no one seemed to care for the Marc Jacobs Patent Rain Boot I posted yesterday, fortunately, there are a ton of great styles out right now that meet all of the required criteria: warm, waterproof, easy to walk in, and—most important—fashionable. Here are some of my favorite finds at both designer and non-designer prices.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Pearl Rubber Boot, $186.95, available here.

Coach Kimberly Boot, $238, available here.

Tecnica Karin Boot, $249, available here.

Juicy Couture Quilted Wedge Snow Boots, $175, available here.
