I swear I was just sitting at my desk at work and was transported to a land of bubblegum geishas and sci-fi butterflies. Don't worry - I'm not tripping out on drugs - I just viewed the Christian Dior Spring 2007 Couture show.
According to John Galliano, the designer who is celebrating his ten years at the helm of Dior, this collection was inspired “by Pinkerton’s affair with Cio-Cio San, Madame Butterfly. Unlike in his fall ready-to-wear collection, he has proven again his unique talent can evoke beauty, drama, and emotion on the runway. Kimonos, obis, and geisha makeup were Dior-ified, and translated into ethereal New Look peplum suits and full-skirted dance dresses. Each look encompassed extravagant origami folding, and intense colors. As I stated before, this collection will transport you to another world - the wonderful world of a celebrating John Galliano.
