Fab Finding Follow Up: Working the Bootie

We had a bootie dilemma on our hands!

We had a bootie dilemma on our hands! A Fab reader bought two new pairs of booties for her Fall splurge, but she's never worn booties before. She was looking for some ideas on what to wear with her newest prized possessions, aside from a dress and a pair of tights.

I started you off with these Marc by Marc Jacobs Platform Oxford Pump, $450, because they're one of the pairs she bought! To see all the bootiecentric Fab Finds, go here.

Let's see what you all came up with!

Oh! Now, you can build outfits by creating a list of clothing items. We have everything you need to build outfits with and you can use your Fab Find bookmarks too. This is an even better way to put together an entire outfit when you are completing your Fab Finding missions.

Look #1, created by AbbyHintz is definitely bootiecentric! I love how comfortable chic the slouchy sweater looks, and its proportions are balanced perfectly with the close-cut straight legs.

LA Fashion Week, Spring 2008: Jeremy Scott

Jeremy Scott is never one to shy away from bold and racy designs and his Spring 2008 collection was no exception.

Jeremy Scott is never one to shy away from bold and racy designs and his Spring 2008 collection was no exception. Though there was no ass-slapping between models like there has been in his past shows, there was lots of drama. Namely, all the female models walked out with large garbage can hats.

Backstage, watching them get ready before the show, I wondered why they had dirt-like makeup on their faces, legs and arms. Upon show time, it all came together: the concept was construction chic. Imagine Grace Kelly was a sewer employee, collected from the dirty work conditions and thrown onto a runway. She'd still be glamorous and gorgeous but with some dirt around the edges.

The silhouettes were nothing new but the prints were avant-garde and edgy. They included street signs, boot prints, pipes, rulers and tools. The inspirational aspect was that these tough prints were plastered on rather feminine dresses, blouses and skirts. The most unwearable piece was a black bubble tiered dress made of what looked like plastic; it rivaled the famous Lanvin silhouettes.

But even Little J got in on the action, and between the three of them, designers like Catherine Malandrino, Phillip Lim, and Milly were worn and then cast aside. Ah, to live the Upper East Side high life...but wait, maybe we still can! I've got the lowdown on how to get all three girl's looks, so check them out: they're definitely more obtainable than you thought.

A Fabby Halloween: Simply Irresistible

You've heard me go on about how much I love Robert Palmer girls before.

You've heard me go on about how much I love Robert Palmer girls before. Not to sound like a broken record but they are too cool for school. They first appeared in his "Addicted to Love" video and were so popular he decided to include them in his similar, but better, video for the Fab song "Simply Irresistible." The song rocks, he rocks, the girls rock. And as a costume, this look is easy, cheeky and sexy. I would announce yourself as being ""Simply Irresistible," not just a Robert Palmer girl — it's more alluring.

For props, an electric guitar is ideal, but I threw in a little electric guitar necklace if you don't want to be too literal. These girls were all eye candy and didn't speak a word, but their dance moves were spicy. I'd learn some and you'll be the life of the party.

Also, a key accessory is the heavy makeup and slicked back hair so learn how to deliver it with precision and then knock 'em dead!

Gossip Girl Fashion Quiz: Episode 5 (Dare Devil)

The tensions were high on last night's episode of Gossip Girl.

The tensions were high on last night's episode of Gossip Girl. Blair Waldorf had one of her infamous sleepovers and Jenny replaced Serena as the guest of honor. Does anyone else think these two are going to be the best of frenemies soon? But for all the drama that ensued, the sleepover definitely had its perks. The cocktails, the food, the free swag. Yes please! The only downfall was that tedious game of truth or dare. Meanwhile, Serena was finally able to go on a date with Dan. Thinking the date might be a casual affair, Serena stepped out in jeans, but then threw on that fabulous black beaded number. If you're as obsessed with the wardrobe as we are, be sure to check back later for a rundown of what the ladies wore, but you can take our fashion quiz now.

Fab Redux: Cleopatra's Final Touch

With Halloween fast approaching, I have really started getting into costume brainstorming mode.

With Halloween fast approaching, I have really started getting into costume brainstorming mode. Often I'll turn to vintage clothing to supplement my Halloween costume — that way, no one else can show up to the party wearing the same thing as me.

When I saw this 80s snake belt, $24, I automatically thought: how perfect would it be for a Cleopatra costume? It's adjustable up to 36" and if you didn't want to wear it around your waist, you could wrap it around your upper arm instead. What is a Cleo costume without an asp, anyway?

LA Fashion Week, Spring 2008: TART

Given the warm LA climate, it's not surprising TART stuck to what they do best: easy, breezy, micro-modal dresses.

Given the warm LA climate, it's not surprising TART stuck to what they do best: easy, breezy, micro-modal dresses. There were oodles of flowy dresses, long and short. Prints, like exploding dots and feathers, were introduced and much appreciated.

I took note of bandeau-style bikini tops paired with high-waisted genie pants, racerback mini dresses, turtleneck frocks, and details like Grecian ruching and braiding. Most dresses came with deep V-neck bodices, halters or one-shoulders. Think Jerry Hall with a modern twist.

Though the body-hugging material used in TART clothing is not forgiving, this collection is ideal for a girl who spends much time in the sea and surf because it's light and airy.
