Fab Finding Follow Up: A Winter Wedding

Early December is a fine time to have a wedding...and that's when you're attending one!

Early December is a fine time to have a wedding...and that's when you're attending one! Your best friend is finally getting married to her long-term BF, and you can't wait to be there for her.

I asked you to find something to wear that's neither overrun with black — that's not the message you want to send your BFF off with — or too festive, since this isn't a holiday party. Don't go too conservative, though, you still want to be your best friend's shining star.

I started you off with this Banana Republic 'Lauralei' strappy sandal, $128, because it's subtle and sophisticated. To see all the Winter wedding Fab Finds, go here.

Let's see what you all came up with!

Oh! Now, you can build outfits by creating a list of clothing items. We have everything you need to build outfits with and you can use your Fab Find bookmarks too. This is an even better way to put together an entire outfit when you are completing your Fab Finding missions.

Look #1, created by syako brings some champagne to the wedding. The dress is gorgeous, and to cover up some of the sparkles and the low-cut neck, the ruffled wrap is a perfect addition.

Plaid

Fab Read: Tartan, Romancing the Plaid

Talking about fashion and not mentioning tartan is like talking about fine dining and not bringing up wine.

Talking about fashion and not mentioning tartan is like talking about fine dining and not bringing up wine. The fabric is an eclectic essential in high fashion, and Jean Paul Gaultier would agree.

Tartan: Romancing the Plaid by Jeffrey Banks and Doria De La Chapelle ($41) tells the story of one of fashion industry's favorite fabrics. It starts with highlighting its humble beginnings and follows through to its current status as an emblem of high fashion and luxurious taste. The book also profiles designers, like Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, and Burberry, who have incorporated tartan in their work.

Plaid may not be prevalent in your wardrobe, but knowing about its power in fashion can't hurt.

Fab Flash: Luxury Brands Gone Wild!

A new era is upon us: the age of luxury brands extending every which way.

A new era is upon us: the age of luxury brands extending every which way. Prada is the purveyor of cell phones, Armani has signed a deal to do LCD TVs, and Roberto Cavalli is doing...vodka?! Well-established companies are always looking for more ways to increase their revenue, but the question is: are these things really going to catch on?

The same phenomenon occurred in the late 80s, when French designer Pierre Cardin and American designer Halston both licensed their names to be used on so many products that they killed their luxury brand status.

Luxury brands today are supposedly more careful about the quality and quantity of their products, but no one is more singularly successful than Ralph Lauren, who sells everything from linens, candles, and beds to cashmere dog clothes. Trying to emulate Mr. Lauren could be dangerous though: the current economic climate predicts a marked decrease in consumer spending. If things go as expected, what will Mr. Cavalli do with all that vodka? PartySugar: are you reading this?

Harper's Bazaar may have placed Kate Moss in 10th place in their 2007 Best Dressed list, but in Fab land, Ms. Moss is one of the top fashion mavens. While out on the town, she's on point with the menswear trend in her tuxedo-style blazer and black trousers. She maintains her femininity with the gold clutch and dangly earrings. Keep on looking great, Kate!

Gossip Girl Fashion Quiz: Episode 7 "Victor, Victrola"

Things are getting spicy on Gossip Girl; we're finally getting the action we crave!

Things are getting spicy on Gossip Girl; we're finally getting the action we crave! Drama was moving at light speed in last night's episode. My favorite events were Serena and Dan's steamy night, Nate's father and son fight and the breaking up of Blair and Nate. And, the final scene where Blair shows us she's not such a goodie goodie after all. Whew. It's all still soaking in, because we had to keep tabs on the fashion as well. I think an encore performance is required, until then, take our fashion quiz!

Eco-Friendly Um Tote: Love It or Hate It?

I'm all for helping the environment but this Eco-Friendly Um Tote by John Jakus ($115) looks more like a magazine rack than a purse.

I'm all for helping the environment but this Eco-Friendly Um Tote by John Jakus ($115) looks more like a magazine rack than a purse. It's made of factory excess industrial wool felt which would otherwise be thrown away. It's a cool concept so maybe instead of a handbag, I'll use it to store my magazines. What do you think?
