Fab Finds of the Week: Scarf City

They come in all different colors, patterns, and sizes, but scarves have two things in common: They keep your neck warm and look cute while doing it.

They come in all different colors, patterns, and sizes, but scarves have two things in common: They keep your neck warm and look cute while doing it. Your Fab Finds this week show that you're as obsessed as I am — my scarf collection is definitely a force to be reckoned with!

The Fab Finder of the week is luvucharlotte, who found this eyecatching sequined scarf. Every week the Fab Finder I announce Monday morning will receive either a TeamSugar or FabSugar baby tee shirt. I thoroughly enjoy perusing your Fab Finds every week, so dare to be a Fab Finding trendsetter and you just might win a Sugar tee!

Fab Ad: Escada Spring/Summer '08

Just when you thought the supermodels of the '90s have long retired, they come back in beautiful ads for top designer brands.

Just when you thought the supermodels of the '90s have long retired, they come back in beautiful ads for top designer brands. Christy Turlington is the latest poster gal for Escada's Spring/Summer '08 collection. Zooming in on her flawless skin and slender bod, it's hard to believe she's a mother of two.

Her high-fashion poses, however, reveal her extensive experience in the industry. Maybe America's Next Top Model contestants can learn a thing or two from the veteran model. I love the simplicity of the background against the vibrancy of the clothes and bags. Christy is the perfect choice for these ads because she doesn't fade into the background, she also doesn't overpower the clothes. What do you think?

Trend Alert: Juicy Red Patent Handbags

The differences between a juicy red patent handbag and a super slick black bag are three-fold.

The differences between a juicy red patent handbag and a super slick black bag are three-fold.

  1. Black is mysterious; red is in-your-face.
  2. Black is sophisticated. Red patent bags can teeter between sophisticated and déclassé. I prefer darker hues; when the red is too bright it's too much.
  3. Black is safe(er). A red patent bag is for the super confident woman. Are you ready for one?

Speaking of confidence. The red metallic Bottega below is beyond patent. I can't decide if it's sophisticated or déclassé. You tell me. Never, have I seen a bolder Bottega.

Compare & Contrast: Wearing a Winter White Coat

White coats are snowballing as the latest outerwear trend.

White coats are snowballing as the latest outerwear trend. They're bold, cozy, and the best foray into the season without actually having to freeze. That said, there's a right and wrong way to bundle up in them . . . the proof is in these examples of Kate Moss and Eva Longoria.

Kate Moss: Kate knows how to rock every piece of clothing she owns and a bold white coat is no exception.

Coat: Staying true to her street-chic style, she dons a fancy fur-trim coat yet makes it look casual and effortless.

Shoes: Though she's wearing a stark white coat, she knows better than to go matchy matchy with her footwear. Instead, her suede over-the-knee boots give her a rock 'n roll edge.

Accessories: Because her outerwear is loud, Kate kept the accessories to a bare minimum: a simple clutch and no jewels.

Eva Longoria: The actress opted for a long white coat to keep her fully covered.

Coat: Because she's petite, the long coat is overbearing. Still, the slight flare at the bottom and tie-waist belt lend a girly flair.

Shoes: Pairing UGGs with a classy coat took the look from potentially chic to tacky and immature. They make her legs look unnecessarily stumpy.

Accessories: Can you tell Eva loves to pile on the accessories? A white fedora, jumbo black patent bag, and a tassel — it's all too much. Less would have been way more.

On Our Radar: Lord & Taylor Going Strong

Everyone from Gap to Target to H&M have recruited major designers to create less expensive lines for their brand, so what's stopping Lord & Taylor?

Everyone from Gap to Target to H&M have recruited major designers to create less expensive lines for their brand, so what's stopping Lord & Taylor? Nothing. The department store tapped Tuleh (left) designer Bryan Bradley to create an exclusive line called Bryan by Bryan Bradley in April and the feminine and affordable pieces have already hit stores.

Cynthia Steffe and Charles Nolan are also part of the Lord & Taylor family; Cynthia is designing for the accessories department, while Charles offers affordable and chic clothes. Rumor also has it that the next designer collaboration may be with Peter Som. Fingers and toes crossed.
