Chain Belts

Chained Up!

These thick, modern versions of the old style chain belts are a sexy accessory that would complement any mod style long shift dress or tunic.

These thick, modern versions of the old style chain belts are a sexy accessory that would complement any mod style long shift dress or tunic. Just wrap it around, clip it together and go with no fuss - they really make cinching a cinch! They also add a Grecian flare. Here are a few new chain belts:

This Woven Link Belt by Cara Couture, $165, is a stunning woven iron gold link belt that has a mesh effect. It is two inches wide and thirty one inches long with a gold drop at the end of the lobster claw clasp to create some weight so it stays put.

Burberry

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Burberry Prorsum

I absolutely adored Burberry Prorsum's Spring collection.

I absolutely adored Burberry Prorsum's Spring collection. Christopher Bailey is proving to be the smart choice to revive the classic brand. So I was excited to see what Fall would look like...

At first I saw: dark and tough, which was a bit frightening. Inspired by the Prorsum knight, I definitely see medieval references. Metallics looked like shimmering armor, reptilian gloves looked downright creepy and the models looked ready for battle. Then, the collection softened, delivering absolutely fabulous outerwear. Mostly belted, there were deconstructed and reconstructed trenches, sporty parkas and stadium jackets. Mini post it pleats and ruffles added a much needed trickle of femme. A couple of surprises were a pretty leafy print and a dusty violet color. Here's a collection based on old ideas that managed to look to the future.

What's the best way to wear a daring print?

What's the best way to wear a daring print? With a lot of skin! No seriously, it helps break up the print. This is demonstrated by mandiesoh and her sweet in Singapore look she posted in the Overseas Fashionistas Look Book.

She is today's Look Book Look of the Day!

Here's what she's wearing:

  • Print mini dress: Topshop

Love It or Hate It

Topshop Halterneck Playsuit: Love It or Hate It?

Onesies are a trend that emerged on the Spring runways and I have a feeling this will provoke mixed feelings.

Onesies are a trend that emerged on the Spring runways and I have a feeling this will provoke mixed feelings. I personally adore them - I've always liked overalls and onesies are a distant relative. However, I don't like full on jumpsuits - too cheesy. I guess I like it when a lot of skin is showing, so it's playful, but sexy. For example, I bought a Paul Frank terry cloth beach cover up onesie that is way cute. However, I don't know about this Topshop Halterneck Playsuit, about $68. Some peeps can pull off this cropped playsuit with self-fabric belt and cuffed hem, but they would have to be a tall, thin trendsetter. Am I right?

Celebrity Style

Celebrity Style: Lindsay Lohan

Not even a stint in rehab will stop Lindsay Lohan from a night out on the town.

Not even a stint in rehab will stop Lindsay Lohan from a night out on the town. This dressed down celebutante wouldn't miss a party to save her life, but she does keep looking better and better. Maybe rehab has done her some good after all! We speculate that her hot red bag is Chanel, but can't seem to find it anywhere; knowing Lindsay, this bag hasn't even hit the stores yet! Lucky girl....

UPDATE: Her fabulous red bag is by Onna Ehrlich, thanks for the tip Sofia!

Beauty Mark It! A Gentle Exfoliator for The Red Carpet!

With the Oscars red carpet quickly approaching celebs have already visited their dermatologists, and other "doctors," in anticipation of the ultimate scrutinizing.

With the Oscars red carpet quickly approaching celebs have already visited their dermatologists, and other "doctors," in anticipation of the ultimate scrutinizing. Now it's time to zero in on the ensemble, get a massage, or two, and refresh the skin so it is glowing on Sunday.

I have just squeezed out the very last drop of my Sweep by Remede facial exfoliator. I keep it in the shower and use a nickel sized amount twice a week on my face. Call me sick, but I like how you can really feel the little particles scrubbing away your dead/dry skin. The best part about this is that it's light and doesn't irritate - this is key since seasoned celebs know better than to experiment this close to the big day.

Since I am such a beauty junkie, I simply refuse to buy another tube. I'd really like to try something different, something that will gently exfoliate me so I shine on Sunday! Let's all go beauty marking to help me find a new facial exfoliator for sensitive skin. Be sure to come back and tell me when your Beauty Marks are up. Tag your choices with gentle exfoliator so I can find them. To learn what a Beauty Mark is and how to make one, click here.

Fab Flash: DVB Fashion World Domination

In an exclusive interview with WWD, Victoria Beckham shared her fierce ambition to grow her and her soccer hubbie's lifestyle brand DVB.

In an exclusive interview with WWD, Victoria Beckham shared her fierce ambition to grow her and her soccer hubbie's lifestyle brand DVB. While she has already been collaborating with Rock & Republic denim, this year she is kicking DVB into high gear with the launch of sunglasses, their own denim collection and his-and-her fragrances in the Fall.

According to Mrs. Beckham:

People look at me and David and they see fashion, they see family, they see sports. I think there are people who want to be a part of that. It's aspirational."

Trend Alert

Trend Alert: Frilled-Hem Dresses

Today's frilled-hem dresses manage to be both romantic and street.

Today's frilled-hem dresses manage to be both romantic and street. The looser silhouette makes these very modern and comfortable and just the word 'frilled' makes these feminine. I suggest toughening these up with a chunky heel and bold jewelry. This black DVF one is an updated LBD and makes me want to frolic through the city streets.

DVF Adelaide Stretch Silk Ruffle Dress, $365.

Model of the Week

Model of the Week: Carolyn Murphy

Welcome to our third first installment of Model of the Week.

Welcome to our third first installment of Model of the Week. I've written a five question interview that I have conducted with several models to share with you. The questions are both fun and beauty related and will always stay the same. To see the rest of the Model of the Week posts click here.

Here's a little history about the classically stunning Carolyn Murphy. She was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, on August 11th, 1975. She grew up in and about Northwest Florida in a trailer park in Panama City, Florida. She was spotted and discovered at the age of 16 by the owner of Mary Lou's Models Modeling agency and began modeling right away.

Carolyn moved to Milan to model after high school. It was there where she gained her popularity. She bleached her hair blond for a photo shoot and it began to fall out. Many photographers took notice of her brave, boyishly short haircut and she began getting work in high profile magazines.

You may recognize her from her 2005 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover, as the face of Estee Lauder, from her award as VH1/Vogue's "Model of the Year"in 1988, from her many magazine ads, runway shows or from her screen debut in the movie, Liberty Heights.

Carolyn is also the proud mother of a gorgeous seven year old daughter named Dylan Blue. I am pleased to be featuring this stately blond, blue eyed fashion icon whom I have admired for years.
