Patent-A-Thon: The Rest of the Bunch!

Patent leather has officially become one of the latest fashion feeding frenzies.

Patent leather has officially become one of the latest fashion feeding frenzies. What's fabulous about this material is it is very resistant, timeless and sexy - what more could you ask for? As well, patent is no longer reserved for dressing up or accessories only; the new versions of it can be worn day or night, work or play, yay! Because patent is a plenty, and in such fantastic colors, I thought a week long Patent-A-Thon should provide a good fix. Here's the final installment, which shows a few things I came across on my patent travels that I couldn't resist sharing. Enjoy!

Look of The Day: Chanel Chic on a Budget

Often imitated, the look of Chanel is definitive.

Often imitated, the look of Chanel is definitive. While there is an array of imposters out there, I think this is a good thing; Chanel is very pricey! As long as the look is classic and chic, preserving what Chanel stands for, I think painfullyhip knows how to do it right with this Chanel chic on a budget look. You are a fabulous inspiration to us all!

She is today's Look Book Look of the Day!

Here's what she's wearing:

  • Chanel-inspired black tweed jacket: Winners / TJ Maxx
  • V neck black sweater: Mervyns
  • Dark wash straight leg jeans: Smart Set
  • Striped pink skinny scarf: $1 dollar store, baby!
  • Skinny silver belt: Adapted from a makeup bag strap she got for Christmas
  • Patent leather peeptoe flats: eBay
  • Black knot-front hobo: Hangar's discount store

Congrats and welcome painfullyhip!

Lip Gloss

Squeeeeezable Lip Gloss

These leak free lip glosses are awesome!

These leak free lip glosses are awesome! Not only are they just a 'lil smaller than your usual size (great for valuable space in our clutches) but they also come with a brush attached for easy application and mess free spread-ability. Check out these two new glosses!

Cargo PurseGloss, $16, is the latest lip gloss from Cargo. It is made from the same non-tacky feeling formula as their famed lip gloss tins, however they are now easy to carry.

I personally have a distaste for tins. They are really big and if you don't have a lip brush handy, you have to keep dipping in, leaving your fingers feeling gooey.

PurseGloss is easy to carry and comes in a petite, droplet shaped, squeezable plastic tube. The attached brush allows for sanitary application and it has been designed with a shut off valve to avoid leaks. Available in nine shades.

Celebrity Style: Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington looked stunning in this Oscar de la Renta gown at the premiere of her new movie I Think I Love My Wife.

Kerry Washington looked stunning in this Oscar de la Renta gown at the premiere of her new movie I Think I Love My Wife. As you can see, this yellow gown is fresh off the Spring runway, and I must say, I love how the yellow really pops on Kerry's beautiful dark skin.

Although we all wish we could adorn designer dresses such as these, unfortunately I don't think our bank accounts agree! We found a couple of more wearable options that still cater to the fresh yellow trend that is so hot right now.

Love It or Hate It

Oh Deer! Patent Slingback Wedge: Love It or Hate It?

I hope you've all been enjoying this week's Patent-A-Thon!

I hope you've all been enjoying this week's Patent-A-Thon! I had to throw this Oh Deer! Patent Slingback Wedge, $125, into the mix. These were found by lilxmissxmolly in the Love It or Hate It? group. I think they are way trashy! I like the modernized peep toe look, and I love wedges, but the patent block on the heel just ruins these for me. Love it or hate it?

Yellow: I Just Can't Get Enough!

Who knew so many peeps would welcome yellow into their lives?

Who knew so many peeps would welcome yellow into their lives? Then again, it is one of the happiest colors in the rainbow. A couple months ago we saw trendsetting Kylie Minogue in a super cute yellow jacket and it looks like yellow is carrying over to Spring - not surprisingly. In this week's Life & Style you can see that yellow accessories are all the rage. I already showed you some yellow goods but here's more more more! Then I promise no more yellow...unless, of course, a Sugar devotee like WhiplashGirlchild just can't get enough of yellow either!

Come Fab Finding With Me: A Winter to Spring Outfit

One of the trickiest wardrobe times is the seasonal transition.

One of the trickiest wardrobe times is the seasonal transition. How annoying is it when the sun is pouring in through your windows but you step outside and it is surprisingly crispy cold? You then feel unprepared for the rest of the day - or even worse, have to turn around, run home, and add another layer.

The solution to this dilemma is layering. This was a Fall trend that carried over into Spring, so luckily we've been seeing numerous examples on the runways and magazines. Here is a look from the Marc Jacobs Spring collection. If you pull apart the outfit and add some jeans, fingerless gloves, and a more wearable hat, one can appear freshly in style and not sacrifice warmth.

We have seen a couple Looks of the Day that exhibit layering pretty well, but let's go Fab Finding for some Spring layering essentials. Layering rule of thumb: keep the silhouette slim, to avoid looking frumpy! Be sure to come back and tell me your Fab Finds are up, or just tag your Fab Finds with winter to spring outfit.

How Do You Prefer Rachel McAdams' Hair?

In my opinion, Rachel McAdams has some of the best skin in Hollywood.

In my opinion, Rachel McAdams has some of the best skin in Hollywood. Because of her milky white, flawless complexion, she can really play around with hair and makeup colors. I've always loved her as a blonde, but as a brunette, her eyes have extreme depth.

Most recently, she's been taking a walk on the wild side with her funky, chunky pink highlights which I happen to like too; I guess I am altogether undecided! Which hair color do you think is the most flattering on her?

Tracy Reese Introduces Plenty Frock

Right on! "There's room to eat, and to breathe" in Tracy Reese's secondary line being introduced this Spring.

Right on! "There's room to eat, and to breathe" in Tracy Reese's secondary line being introduced this Spring. The princess of frills, pleats, and curve flattering frocks will be bringing us even more pretty dresses via Plenty Frock. These lovelies look perfect for upcoming summer weddings and disco dancing nights. There is a range of styles but "they have similar silhouettes: a flowy skirt with top that's either formfitting or a little bare." The line will be sold at retailers such as Bloomingdales, Saks and the Tracy Reese flagship in NYC. I personally can't wait!
