Fab Finding

Fab Finding Follow Up: Camping Cutie

A reader recently wrote me suggesting we do a Fab Finding for cute camping clothes.

A reader recently wrote me suggesting we do a Fab Finding for cute camping clothes. I may be a high maintenance camper but I'm up for any fashion challenge so my response was: where's the compass?! Let's do it! I started you off with these Joe's Jeans Perry Cargo Shorts, $152, because nothing says roughing it like a pair of designer denim shorts (wink).

I asked you all to go Fab Finding for ruggedly cute camping outfits and to feel free to throw in some camping essentials for those of us not well versed in the way of the camp. To see all the camping fab finds click here. Let's see what you all came up with!

Look #1, found by misssixty02 is totally Troop Beverly Hills with this Flex Fleece Sleeveless Hoody and L.L. Bean Camp Bag Flannel-Lined. Check out the Smores kit!

Love It or Hate It

Anya Hindmarch I'm not a Plastic Bag: Love It or Hate It?

I've been seeing this Anya Hindmarch "I'm not a Plastic Bag", approx $6.75, everywhere.

I've been seeing this Anya Hindmarch "I'm not a Plastic Bag", approx $6.75, everywhere. Apparently it is all the rage. It it quite cheeky and with all the talk about banning plastic shopping bags it is fashionably PC. And for once here is a designer bag that is pretty wimpy in composition and is actually cheap - as it should be! That is why this bag has been selling like hotcakes and has bids up to $270 on eBay. Ok, that I'm not sure about...but this would be an awesome bag to tote my organic groceries in. Fashion meets function meets the environment. Viva la future!

Trend Alert

Trend Alert: Frilly Spring Blouses

The romantics have arrived.

The romantics have arrived. However, one must be aware of the abundant femme flavor of these frilly Spring blouses. Clearly a trickle down from the Romanza trend, the way to wear these for today is sans skirt and with a leaner silhouette. So a sleek pair of skinnies will suffice or a cool pair of high waisted trousers. As for a jacket, you don't want to crush these precious frills so something light and airy - a blazer would look too suit-ish.

Look of the Day

Look of the Day: Less is More

Sometimes less is so much more when it comes to fashion, and Almostcrime seems to grasp that concept quite well in her less is more outfit.

Sometimes less is so much more when it comes to fashion, and Almostcrime seems to grasp that concept quite well in her less is more outfit. She categorized the ensemble as 70s western, but I beg to differ. I think Almostcrime's outfit is very modern and clean. I love how although a tucked shirt can look preppy, she manages to make it look cool with a pair of black skinny jeans and a skinny belt.

Here's what she's wearing:

  • White Button-down Shirt: Gap
  • Skinny Jeans: Levi's
  • Wedge Sandals: Old Navy
  • Skinny Belt: Her mom's from the 70s

Congrats to Almostcrime!

Everyone else, submit your looks and vote on your favorite ones today and I just might feature you on FabSugar! If you live overseas and have a fab outfit to share, join the Overseas Fashionistas Group and to submit a Look in this group learn how to post a blog.

Fashion Flash

Fab Flash: Tom Ford Opens Up Shop!

Former Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent designer Tom Ford couldn't find a retail space for his very first boutique on Bond Street in London so, lucky for us Americans, an empty Madison Avenue boutique called his name one day as he was passing by.

Former Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent designer Tom Ford couldn't find a retail space for his very first boutique on Bond Street in London so, lucky for us Americans, an empty Madison Avenue boutique called his name one day as he was passing by. A phone call and some hardcore planning later, Tom's three-story, 8,680-square-foot New York store has opened its doors today at 845 Madison Avenue.

According to reports, butlers and maids have been staffed to fluff cushions and wipe dust in this uber luxurious fashion house with pale gray and sable brown hues, suede walls, leather furniture and various art pieces.

Starting at $3,000, Cary Grant-like men can purchase ready-to-wear suits or they can opt for custom-made tailoring. Women can stock up on leather goods like luggage and crocodile weekenders, fragrances, eyewear, and a full line of jewelry.

In case any of you fashion forward provocateurs want to stop by, the store is open by appointment 7am-11am and 5pm-7pm and to the public from 11am-5pm.

If you do stop by, please pick me up a crocodile weekender and I promise I'll pay you back!

Nars

Mr. Nars is a Famed Photog

On Tuesday night, I had the pleasure of attending an event for Francois Nars held on the ground floor of the swanky boutique department store, Henri Bendel in New York City.

On Tuesday night, I had the pleasure of attending an event for Francois Nars held on the ground floor of the swanky boutique department store, Henri Bendel in New York City. Although Mr. Nars had left long before I arrived, I did enjoy meeting all of the friendly gals I've been speaking and emailing with for months over at Nars Cosmetics.

The event was an exhibition honoring the work of Francois Nars. What I learned is that not only is he the head of NARS, but he's also quite a talented photographer. This soiree was put together to commemorate a compilation of ten years of NARS ad campaign images.

The event team transformed the store into an art gallery and had pictures on display as well as giant cubes hanging from the ceiling with different photos on each side. The hosts of the event were Lydia Hearst, Dayle Haddon and Amy Wesson and supposedly Avril Lavigne, Linda Evangelista and Tinsley Mortimer were set to arrive, but I did not see them there.

I did however get to speak with fashion designer Anait Bain and our talk ended with her complimenting my jacket - yay! I also walked away with a fab NARS Jaipur candle that you will certainly be hearing more about!

Simply Fab

Simply Fab: No See 'ems Blouse Front Closures

Busty girls can understand this fashion dilemma: you're wearing a button down blouse for a job interview or a business meeting and realize (when it's a little too late) that anyone standing within a foot of you can see your sexy lace bra through the crack between the buttons and your chest.

Busty girls can understand this fashion dilemma: you're wearing a button down blouse for a job interview or a business meeting and realize (when it's a little too late) that anyone standing within a foot of you can see your sexy lace bra through the crack between the buttons and your chest. The well endowed can now cover up those horrible gaps with No See 'ems from Atlanta-based company, Bug Catcherz.

Here's how to use the clear strip of heavy tape that's sticky on both sides.

  1. Place the strip vertically on the part of your shirt with the buttons, and slip the opening in the middle of the strip around the problem area button.
  2. Remove the two strips in the back and press firmly against your shirt.
  3. Remove the two top strips, slip your button back on and press the strip against the other side of your shirt.

Lipstick

What Color Lipstick Looks Best on Jennifer?

Jennifer Connelly has a very unique look.

Jennifer Connelly has a very unique look. There is something mysterious and appealing about her beauty. Each time I see her on the red carpet or in films she really captivates me. Although her hair never changes much, she's got fabulous skin and gorgeous green almond shaped eyes that seem to pop when she adds color to her lips. I like her best in the third look where she has an eye/lip balance. What color lipstick do you think looks best on her?
