Katie Holmes: A Fashion Metamorphosis

We have witnessed a fashion metamorphosis.

We have witnessed a fashion metamorphosis. After Holmes' recent Celebrity Style and the announcement that Katie and newfound fashion friend Victoria Beckham, more on that later, are creating a children's clothing line I got to thinking: wait, Katie Holmes was not always a style maven. Now I was not a Dawson's Creek fan, but I did enjoy Katie's performance in the fun-ride-of-a-film called "Go." But no, she never stood out on the red carpet or in glossies as being particularly stylish. She's lucky she has a lovable dimply pretty face because if not, I would have never noticed her (no offense!). But I notice young brimming fashionistas; that's my job and duty in life, after all.

Designer Spotlight: Bodyamr

Tom Ford, Net-a-porter and British Vogue have all raved about Bodyamr, a posh label created in 2004.

Tom Ford, Net-a-porter and British Vogue have all raved about Bodyamr, a posh label created in 2004. If you haven't already checked them out, it's to your benefit to check this out pronto!

The Spring/Summer '07 collection is beyond luxurious and all about the details (think funnel necks, draping, ruching, braiding). This line is definitely not for shy girls as each piece is made to stand out in a crowd. If you want to invest, stores like Harrods in London, Net-a-porter and Harvey Nichols carry their chic goods. Even if the price tags are beyond your budget (a draped top can go for over $500), it's still worth a peek just for inspiration!

Now that you are ready to shop for your wedding day I am taking you through the latest wedding gown trends this week.

Now that you are ready to shop for your wedding day I am taking you through the latest wedding gown trends this week. Now, we want to avoid the insanity of the running of the brides so here is a fresh trend in bridal fashion: short & sweet. After discussing this with coworkers, the consensus is these are very modern and daring. I'm even on the fence; while these dresses are beautiful, I'm not sure if I'd want to wear one on my wedding day. But I think they are a great style for an outdoor wedding - to avoid grass stains on one's train!

Leave it up to Posh to blow fashion rules to the wind and wear white jeans before Memorial Day.

Leave it up to Posh to blow fashion rules to the wind and wear white jeans before Memorial Day. In Paris, no less. While I have argued that Posh has too icey a demeanor I think the power couple look really cute out and about together. And birthday shopping?! I'm dying to know what she got - hopefully we'll be seeing her goodies in the near future.

Model of the Week

Model Of The Week: Yfke Sturm

Welcome again to one of my favorite weekly feature's on FabSugar: Model of the Week!

Welcome again to one of my favorite weekly feature's on FabSugar: Model of the Week! This week the lovely 5' 11" long legged, blond-haired, blue-eyed Yfke Sturm is being featured. Yfke was born on November 19th, 1981, in Almere, Netherlands which was also where she was discovered.

At the age of just 14, she was more interested in sports than modeling, but was urged to enter a modeling competition in the South of France. After her win, her career took off. You might recognize her from her pictures in: Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Esquire, Arena Magazines and the Victoria's Secret Catalog. Or perhaps she seems familiar from her two year stint as host of the Dutch TV show, "Holland’s Next Top Model."

She has also been featured in ads for: Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, La Perla, J-Lo, Biotherm, Armani, Krizia, Carolina Herrera, Bali, H&M, Escada, Banana Republic and has recently completed ads for Pantene, XOXO and Garnier. If you think this is a lot, her list of runway appearances is even longer!

On a more personal note, Yfke is a humanitarian who is an ambassador of the Dutch Red Cross Foundation and started “Yfke 4 Kids” in collaboration with the Red Cross which helps children all over the world who have AIDS.

Fab Finding

Fab Finding Reminder! A Spring Outfit for Fab!

Here's your final reminder!

Here's your final reminder! Fab needs a new Spring outfit - yay! While I love her little artsy teal dress, cream coat and beanie you all found last Winter it's time to lift Fab's hemline and paint her toes. This is the time to pull out all the stops because we will be redrawing Fab based on the winning looks and she'll be sporting it all Summer long. I am cozying up with your Finds tonight to choose my faves so please go searching for the best of Spring for Fab!

I have chosen the shoes for her to wear, these Christian Louboutin Maezep cork wedges, $680, because I love these metallic wedges and can't afford a pair of Louboutin's myself so I'm living vicariously through my alter ego. They are a neutral color so let's all go Fab Finding for a saucy new Spring outfit. Here are my requirements: a colorful mini dress, to show off Fab's thin long legs, and an oversized buttery handbag - the rest is up to you! Be sure to put your Fab Finds in the Fab Finding for Sugar Girls Group, if you're not a member click here to join and tag your Fab Finds with Fab Spring outfit.

firstVIEW is an online fashion mag that specializes in runway photos and videos. There are 1,825,209 to be exact, and one can't possibly go through each and every one of them (although I have attempted!). But it's definitely worth it to browse a handful of catwalk photos from all over the world and from hundreds of designer collections. The neatest part of firstVIEW is their calendar of various fashion shows from different countries like Australia, Russia, Spain and Hong Kong. Not that most of us can just drop everything to go catch a catwalk performance in Paris, but still! You can also purchase fashion books and videos for your library at home.

You must sign up to peruse, so c'mon, get started...you only have 1,825,208 more photos to see!

Bridal Beauty Looks, Part III: The Daring Bride

The daring bride has no intentions of having a conventional wedding.

The daring bride has no intentions of having a conventional wedding. She's a modern day woman who thinks outside the box and marches to her own tune. Think Sarah Jessica Parker (she wore black), Dita Von Teese or Alabama from True Romance! A daring bride is unlike the princess bride or the natural bride. Her goal is to have the kind of affair that will make her and her fiance happy, not to conform to the customs of tradition.

She may choose not to wear white, she might even skip out on a veil, bridesmaids and an assigned seated reception. The sky is the limit. Oftentimes I hear something like this from non-traditional brides: I'll do what I want, I'll have what I want and I'll wear what I want. This affair could even be a second wedding or something more spur of the moment.

Love It or Hate It

DVF Ladybug Dress: Love It or Hate It?

Spring is here and the ladybugs have come out of hibernation, so how the heck did this one find itself on Diane von Furstenberg's Ladybug Dress, $345?

Spring is here and the ladybugs have come out of hibernation, so how the heck did this one find itself on Diane von Furstenberg's Ladybug Dress, $345? The silhouette of the dress is simple and very wearable, but I'm not sold on the gigantic insect on the hip and the (accident prone) white color. What about you?
