Look of the Day

Look of the Day: Sophisticated Lady

Here we have a sophisticated lady aka the adorable Sandra Werner.

Here we have a sophisticated lady aka the adorable Sandra Werner. Doesn't she just look like a doll? I admire how Sandra exudes a polished look minus the snootiness. Plus, she's wearing vintage Chanel shoes - what's more fabulous than that?

Here's what she's wearing:

  • Jacket: Mike & Chris
  • T-shirt: American Vintage
  • Skirt: Kenneth Cole
  • Handbag: Marc Jacobs
  • Shoes: Chanel

Congrats to Sandra Werner!

Us' Hot Hollywood Style Winners: Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee is looking more and more like a lady these days and I like it!

Ashlee is looking more and more like a lady these days and I like it! No wonder US Magazine voted her "The Swan." Actually, she does resemble a swan in these photos with her long locks and svelte body. This grey sweetheart dress is super flattering and appropriate for her age. And even though the red-shoes-with-grey-dress combo has been done before, Ashlee keeps it fresh by opting for a square-toe pump. Do I smell a new trend? What do you think about Ashlee's primp look?

Us' Hot Hollywood Style Winners: Jennifer Lopez

In case you hadn't heard, the Style Icon of the Year winner is JLo!

In case you hadn't heard, the Style Icon of the Year winner is JLo! Her look is regal and elegant, but she definitely ups the glam factor with dramatic beauty and jewelry. She also knows how to dress urban and sophisticated so fans can identify with her! However, I don't know if a menswear approach was the best choice for this extravaganza. A fun party dress would have been my choice. Alas, her skin is glowing and she is smokin' as always. What do you all think?

Come Fab Finding With Me: The Graduate

I smell fresh blood.

I smell fresh blood. No, I'm not talking vampires here, I'm talking about the new crop of youngins to join the workforce: the graduates. May is right around the corner and Seniors have their noses in their books in anticipation for the end of the stretch.

A reader recently wrote in requesting help to find a lovely look for her to host her grad party in. She is graduating from a small business school and she'll be seeing family she rarely sees so she wants to impress! Her requirements are that the outfit is comfortable, since she will be the hostess with the mostess and running all over the place. I'll start you off with these Rock & Republic Catherine Stiletto in Black Gingham, $345. They are a classic fabric, but have a sassy shape so they are undoubtedly charming.

Let's all go Fab Finding for a comfortable graduation hostess outfit. I say a dress is in order, but feel free to let those creative juices flow. Come back and tell me when your Fab Finds are up and tag them with the graduate.

Oooh, it's going to be a fun Friday!

Oooh, it's going to be a fun Friday! Last night US Weekly hosted its Us' Hot Hollywood 2007 style winners party and some celebs pulled out all the stops. Let's get our own party started with the Red Carpet Style of the Year winner Lindsay Lohan. Since she is the new spokesmodel for Jill Stuart, here she is representing and I'm loving it. I like Lindsay in curls too! Super cute and this looks super comfy too. What do you all think?

Trend Alert: Watch Necklaces

Don't even tell me these little candy colored Marc watch necklaces haven't made you swoon before.

Don't even tell me these little candy colored Marc watch necklaces haven't made you swoon before. I know they came out a while ago but they have sparked a trend. Watch necklaces are officially the new way to wear time and I quite like the vintage appeal turned modern adornment. These can also be cheeky and a conversation piece; a match made in fashion heaven. I haven't snatched one of the Marc ones yet because it's so hard to pick just one...help!

Flower Power Makeup Part III: Palettes

Welcome to the final installment of flower power makeup.

Welcome to the final installment of flower power makeup. This post includes two beautiful palettes embossed with floral designs. By the way, palettes make for great Mother's Day gifts if you are already thinking of ideas. Enjoy and please let me know what you think!

I just love the look of this brand new for Spring Chantecaille Les Roses Palette, $105. Although it's expensive, it actually is cheaper to purchase the palette than it is to buy all of the colors separately.

The shades chosen are all very wearable, and the full rose on the blush and bronzer adds a sweet and feminine touch. I happen to really like this brand a lot. I haven't tried this yet, but I can't wait to check it out.

Fab Read: How Sassy Changed My Life

Do you gals remember Sassy?

Do you gals remember Sassy? Before Teen Vogue there was Sassy, a late-eighties teen mag about feminism, celebrities and girl culture. What set Sassy apart from other magazines at the time was its honest voice and too-cool attitude - although some say this blase attitude contributed to its demise in 1996.

Almost twenty years later, New York writers Kara Jesella and Marisa Meltzer have written a "love letter" to Sassy in their book How Sassy Changed My Life: A Love Letter to the Greatest Teen Magazine of All Time, $13.

It is a behind-the-scenes look at the magazine's office culture, its coverage of feminism, celebrities and girls' problems. It also highlights struggles with advertisers, publishers, religious conservatives and other detractors.

If you missed the Sassy boat or have (foggy) fond memories, this book allows us to see where our rebel sisters and cousins were getting their advice from in the 80s heyday!

Bergdorf Goodman

On Our Radar: Davi Skin Care

Though many of you lovely ladies are far too young to start thinking about wrinkles, I think it's never too early to prevent those wretched lines.

Though many of you lovely ladies are far too young to start thinking about wrinkles, I think it's never too early to prevent those wretched lines. After conducting some research with scientists at University of California, Davis, Winemaker Carlo Mondavi (he's super cute, but that's besides the point!), grandson of Robert of Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley, discovered that fermented grapes from his family's vineyards are filled with antioxidants. So he created Davi skin care, which combines extracts of grapes and wine, along with green tea and other products that are good for smoothing out your skin.

Bergdorf Goodman sells the line for women and men, which includes face creams, toners, SPF lotions and purifying cleansers. Though it's a tad expensive ($50 for SPF lotion), money should be no object when looking out for your skin. After all, it's the skin you're going to be in for life so you better take care of it starting today!
