Fab Finding

Fab Finding Follow Up: Dinner With The Ex(!)

Dinner with the ex is a wardrobe Catch 22: you don't want to look too sexy because you don't want to give off the wrong vibe; you don't want to look like crap because you want him to know what he's missing!

Dinner with the ex is a wardrobe Catch 22: you don't want to look too sexy because you don't want to give off the wrong vibe; you don't want to look like crap because you want him to know what he's missing! So let's say the situation is that this is a friendly dinner with the ex - no hidden agenda here - so you want to look great, but not overly sexy. To see some great advice on this situation click here.

I started you off with some armor: this Theory Belted Trench, $495. A trench is classic, and this one in particular is modest - but not at all frumpy! I asked you all to go Fab Finding for a not-too-sexy but attractive dinner with the ex outfit. To see all the dinner with ex finds click here.

Celebrity Style

Celebrity Style: Katie Holmes

Celebs are definitely embracing the wide legged jeans trend.

Celebs are definitely embracing the wide legged jeans trend. And for those tall and modelesque ones, this is a way to look even taller - as if they need any more help! This is a first Celebrity Style for Katie Holmes and I have a feeling there will be more to come. While she is sporting these wide legged bad boys in a rather raver sort of way (memories!), she still manages to be polished with a butter leather bag and sleek leather jacket.

Dresses

Dress You Up! T-Shirt Dresses

I saved the most laid back of this Spring's Dress You Up!

I saved the most laid back of this Spring's Dress You Up! for Friday. Seriously, looking at one of these I just want to go to bed, wake up, roll out of bed and get back into bed - they are so comfy looking. Because of this t-shirt dresses are probably best saved for the weekend or if you have a really office casual job. I leave you on a TGIF note with these picks.

I hope you enjoyed Dress You Up! this week, I know I did. Seeing as how dresses are one of the key clothing items for Spring, stay tuned for a Part II in weeks to come.

Nail Polish

Be A Dashing Diva!

A fab line of nail lacquers called Dashing Diva has hit the marketplace.

A fab line of nail lacquers called Dashing Diva has hit the marketplace. They are a chic (and pink!) worldwide salon that specializes in manicures, pedicures and waxing. Although they've been around for a while, somehow they've stayed under the mainstream radar. However, with the launch of their Extra Virgin Collection, they've just entered the big time. Celebs, fashionistas and divas extraordinaire are crediting their fresh and fierce nail polish shades to Dashing Diva!

The collection consists of eight of their best selling colors that range from delicate to dark. All together they now have 150 colors that retail for $7.99 each. From what I understand, they are chip resistant and the color stays true. Also, they are DBP, toluene and formaldehyde free. This means they are better for the environment and are less smelly. Yay!

Look of the Day

Look of The Day: Extended Winter

Congrats to whiplashgirlchild on her fab Look of the Day.

Congrats to whiplashgirlchild on her fab Look of the Day. Even though the calendar says that it's Spring, the weather is still quite chilly. It even snowed yesterday where she lives! The silver lining in this cloud is that she gets to rock her new fringe-alicious suede boots. I don't know girl, you look great but I am hoping that it warms up soon!

Here's what she's wearing:

Love It or Hate It

Alexander McQueen Samsonite Black Label: Love It or Hate It?

Now I know Christina Ricci has partnered with Samsonite, but something tells me even her gothic roots as Wednesday and in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow won't churn out a luggage collection quite like this.

Now I know Christina Ricci has partnered with Samsonite, but something tells me even her gothic roots as Wednesday and in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow won't churn out a luggage collection quite like this. Alexander McQueen's collection for Samsonite Black Label is, er, interesting. At the launch party the designer admitted: "Unfortunately, I'm quite sick at the moment." Wait - was he physically sick or mentally sick? I think physically, but one would wonder about the mental bit too after viewing this luggage collection that resembles the boney spine of many a controversial model. I like the other pieces in the collection; the pristine white contours create a ghostly aesthetic that is McQueen no doubt. But that white spiny one just gives me the jeepers creepers - and I like scary movies! What do you all think?

Come Fab Finding With Me: Camping Cutie

Believe it or not, I have gone camping.

Believe it or not, I have gone camping. Well, Fab camping - that is, there has to be a bathroom, I must have one of those plushy air mattresses, and smores is required. But I can rough it with the best of them, albeit I may be a high maintenance camper. Hey, I try ok?

Anywho, a reader wrote me suggesting we do a Fab Finding for cute camping clothes and I say: where's the compass?! Let's do it! I'll start you off with these Joe's Jeans Perry Cargo Shorts, $152, because nothing says roughing it like a pair of designer denim shorts (wink).

Let's go Fab Finding for ruggedly cute camping outfits. Feel free to throw in some camping essentials for those of us not well versed in the way of the camp. Be sure to come back and tell me your Fab Finds are up, or just tag your Fab Finds with camping.

Vintage

Fab Site: VintageVixen.com

Those of you who are members of The Vintage Place!!

Those of you who are members of The Vintage Place!! group may already know about this fab site because of theotherhalfofme, who is also the group founder. She found an awesome vintage website I wanted to share with all of you.

I know vintage shopping is not for everyone, but it's websites like Vintage Vixen that can help the discerning shopper feel more confident when exploring the wonderful world of fashions past. Off the bat, you can shop women's and men's clothes by category; you can also shop kids and jewelry. Added perks are worldwide shipping and all items are listed in modern sizes - which is key because people have grown over the ages! They also have a 'Just in for Spring' section, gift certificates and a special feature section where right now they are highlighting "Beautiful Black Vintage Negligees."

My favorite part of the site, other than sifting through the day dresses and vintage handbags is the free information section where you can learn about vintage clothes. There's a 20th century fashion history where you can learn about styles by decade (yay for the 70s!), a vintage clothing industry section, articles & interviews, and how to care for vintage clothes.

To see some of theotherhalfofme's finds from this fab site check out The Vintage Place!!! and join the group if you too are a vintage hunter!

Trend Alert

Trend Alert: Plastic Handbags

Here's the scoop with this one.

Here's the scoop with this one. I have been seeing plastic handbags in every which magazine. But, I think they are tacky most of the time. So, I held off until I found three plastic contenders that I felt were not as tasteless as the rest of 'em. I am proud to present you with a few plastic handbags that are fun and whimsical and maybe just a bit fantastically tacky.
