I have a blonde bombshell of a friend who is a self-proclaimed broad-shouldered gal. We recently went shopping together because she needed tops and dresses and I'm here to help! We ended up scoring her some new fun and feminine pieces that helped proportion her shoulder with the rest of her bodacious bod.

I'm sure broad-shouldered broad Jessica Biel faces this challenge everyday and you can see such a difference between when she wears something ultra femme (left) and something not so femme (right). Not to say gals with broad shoulders can't wear a tee shirt when going casual, but here are some tips and items to trick the eye into thinking you have perfectly proportionate shoulders. Hope they help!

• Loose deep v-neck sweaters, and v-necks in general, are your best friend.
• Slouchy, menswearish trousers create more volume on the bottom therefore balancing out the shoulders.
• Shrunken blazers with a nipped in waist make the upper half appear more compact.
• A long, swingy top plays up the curve of the hips.
• Contrary to what you may think, suspenders cut the shoulders down the middle and elongate the torso.
• A feminine, flirty blouse softens an angular frame.

Sometimes when I go out I don't want to carry around a bag, or even a clutch. 'Tis true. Especially if I'm just taking Annabelle for a stroll. I love this American Apparel lamé coin purse, $8, because it has a key ring to hold your house key plus a pouch to hold your I.D. and some money (and maybe even a lip gloss). And, it comes in these great metallic shades, that are totally hot for a night out. Okay, I'll be honest: I think it's totally appropriate for day, too. Just because it's that Fab.

It really is amazing how fashion recycles itself; Dittos are back! The brand known for curve-hugging cuts, a slightly flared leg, and U-turn stitching down the backside was huge in the 70s: the It jeans of the time, if you will.

Frankie B.'s designer Daniella Clarke has reintroduced the colorful high-rise bell-bottoms in all their bright-colored glory. They also come in blue denim washes and classic white, and are available for $159-$175 from Revolve Clothing, Intermix, and Shopbop.

I couldn't pass this one up! fifthofapril looks absolutely adorable working at a boutique. I love the pose and the atmosphere of this picture. Her doing the polka (dot) outfit looks great against her tan - very summery! The pairing of the gold shoes with the royal blue of her dress is smashing!

Nothing comes between me and my Calvins - not this time, anyway! Francisco Costa did a wonderful job once again for Calvin Klein - the dresses are very body-conscious - yet minimal, the suits look comfy and well-cut, and the swimwear, well, there's one that's totally retro and cute!

But most of all, the thing I love about this collection is the colors. The aquas, greys, beiges and whites remind me of the beach and the surf, but then there are these super-bright, almost neon, blocks of orangey-red and magenta. There's even one outfit that combines the orangey-red on top and aqua on bottom - a color combination I never would have thought of, but it so works. Bravo, Francisco, for staying true to the CK aesthetic and yet still bringing something new to the table!

Here's a trend for fans of both the nautical look and bling - myself included! Chains evoke a luxe, cool and even humorous message; they are a fancy way to wear a tough metal.
