Who Wore It Better? Diane von Furstenberg Print Dress

Mary-Louise Parker wore this Diane von Furstenberg dress to a Television Critics Association event, while "Law and Order" actress Alana De La Garza wore it to the NBC All-Star Party.

Mary-Louise Parker wore this Diane von Furstenberg dress to a Television Critics Association event, while "Law and Order" actress Alana De La Garza wore it to the NBC All-Star Party. Both ladies are petite, brunette, fair-skinned and have a man by their side! But who do you think wore it better? My vote goes to Alana because of her sassy red clutch.

Always a Bridesmaid Never a Bride: How To Reuse Those Lonely Dresses

I've done a lot of wedding coverage for brides, but I was thinking how many of us are bridesmaids so many more times than we are brides - and how we all end up with many of those dreaded bridesmaid dresses.

I've done a lot of wedding coverage for brides, but I was thinking how many of us are bridesmaids so many more times than we are brides - and how we all end up with many of those dreaded bridesmaid dresses.

So what to do? I've put together a couple of ideas for ways to recycle all those bridesmaid dresses collecting in your closet, and please - if you have any more ideas, do share!

  • If you're crafty, Blueprint Magazine has five great ways to rework the dress - giving it a little makeover, shall we say. Think painted maxi-skirt, strapless bubble dress, and more!

  • Or if you'd rather have a great home decoration than another piece of clothing, Home & Garden TV has a how-to on turning the dress into a decorative lampshade or photo album cover - for real! Another site has a how-to on transforming the dress into pillow slipcovers.
  • If you're not so crafty, you can always take the dress to the tailor and get the hem altered to cocktail length, or the sleeves taken off so that the dress becomes a sleeveless sheath. There are a million possibilities, especially if your tailor is willing to collaborate and give you advice!
  • But if you just really can't stand the thing, can't even stand to look at it any more, consider donating it to The Princess Project, or a similar organization that collects prom dresses for high school girls in your area. That way the dress will be going to good use!

Victoria Beckham Is a Re-Outfitter!

Posh just keeps getting more and more down-to-earth, it seems.

Posh just keeps getting more and more down-to-earth, it seems. I know I'm not the only one whose heart she stole the other night on her TV special Victoria Beckham: Coming to America; she was so likeable, witty and devoted to her family. Her razored blonde do has grown on me & she's like a British Barbie-doll. Alas, Victoria is a re-outfitter!

I was that girl in high school who never wore the same outfit twice - I kind of still am. What can I say: I'm a clotheshorse! And what I would give for a tour of the British babe's closet, but it appears she plays favorites and isn't afraid to be caught in a very similar look. She just wore this casual (for her) grey look with her little men and she wore a similar look back in February - (slightly different top, another pair or heels). The off-shoulder heather grey loose sweater, grey jeans and killer stilettos is an official Posh look. Major.

On Our Radar: Phillip Lim for Birkenstock

His line is not even two years old yet, but Phillip Lim just keeps going and going - not to mention you all voted him the FabSugar Designer of the Year last year!

His line is not even two years old yet, but Phillip Lim just keeps going and going - not to mention you all voted him the FabSugar Designer of the Year last year! His first boutique opened last week on Mercer Street in New York, and he's got a plethora of other side projects in the works, including a collection for Birkenstock's fashion-forward line, Tatami.

"I've always been obsessed with Birkenstocks," he told The Fashion Informer. "My goal with this is to introduce... a series of urban, oh-so-cool old-school, but new hippie-chic sandals."

Sounds promising! I can't wait until September, when the line will be unveiled at his 3.1 Phillip Lim show. It is supposed to be carried at his new Mercer Street store, as well as at select Birkenstock retailers in Asia, Europe, and a few American markets, including in New York and L.A.
