Come Fab Finding With Me: Picnic Date

I was watching the movie "Picnic" the other day after work, and it made me think about how nice it would be to have a picnic in the park nearby and simply enjoy the nice summer weather. But to make it even better, I would whip up a little picnic smorgasbord, pack it all up in a cute picnic basket, and invite my favorite guy. What a great romantic date!
Help me out - what do you think I should wear? I'll start you off with this adorable Williams Sonoma Picnic Basket, $50 - this whole thing makes me feel so retro, in a good way.
Let's all go Fab Finding for some Fab looks for me to wear on my picnic date! Come back and tell me when your Fab Finds are up and tag them with picnic date.
Oh! Now, you can build outfits by creating a list of clothing items. We have everything you need to build outfits with and you can use your Fab Find bookmarks too. This is an even better way to put together an entire outfit when you are completing your Fab Finding missions.

Definition: Funnel Neck

Fab Flash: Maggie Gyllenhaal to be an Agent Provocateur!

It appears that the rumors about Daisy Lowe being Agent Provocateur's new girl were false. WWD revealed today that Maggie Gyllenhaal has been chosen instead! Maggie will appear in the first episode of the AP online campaign beginning September 1, with three more episodes to follow.
A bit of a surprising choice, but then I think of her in the S&M flick Secretary, and I know Miss Maggie can handle her share of lingerie just fine.
Fab Site: SHOWStudio.com
If you've always been curious about what happens backstage at fashion show and photoshoots, SHOWstudio is the place to catch a glimpse. According to photographer and founder Nick Knight, "SHOWstudio is based on the belief that showing the entire creative process—from conception to completion—is beneficial for the artist, the audience and the art itself." I second that!

To see live backstage footage, go here. You'll also discover a blog, ad campaign pictures (very cool!) and live webcams of the SHOWstudio office. See? Just because you can't experience the backstage madness doesn't mean you can't see it!
The Look For Less: Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Mary Jane

Victoria Beckham, Mariah Carey, and, of course, I love these Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Mary Janes, $660. They are ladylike and edgy at the same time, and the 3 cm platform defies Mary Jane tradition. Rebellious shoe without a cause - how can one resist?!

Designer Spotlight: Rachel Comey

I've had a mini-crush on Rachel Comey for some time now - especially after making eye contact with these dual-tone flats. But designer Rachel Comey lends her expertise to more than just lustworthy shoes: she could outfit you from top to bottom if you wanted. She started out with a job at Theory, then she broke off and made menswear - (David Bowie was a fan). Finally, she's come to her senses and made something for the ladies.; I love her vintage-inspired aesthetic!
A few pieces from the Spring collection are on sale at Refinery29Shops, $125-$244.

Look of the Day: Vogue!

I just had to feature this Look: penthesileia looks like she's straight out of a fashion magazine with her Vogue look. Love the lighting, the dress flatters her, and I especially like that she made her own obi belt for a special personal touch.
Here's what she has on:
- Dress: Charlie Brown
- Belt: DIY
- Shoes: Carvela
- Earrings: Accessorize
Congrats to penthesileia!
Everyone else, submit your looks today and I just might feature you on FabSugar! If you live overseas and have a fab outfit to share, join the Overseas Fashionistas Group and to submit a Look in this group learn how to post a blog.
Kim Kardashian's Herve Leger Obsession
Is Kim Kardashian a little obsessed with Herve Leger or what? She's been sporting the designer's body-hugging frocks to almost every recent event she's attended. It's great that she's embracing her voluptuous curves but at times Leger's bandage dresses hug (and squeeze) a little too much! Out of the four here, I prefer Kim in the white strapless sweetheart number (top right) because it looks yummy against her caramel skin. How about you?

Out of Sight, Not Out of Mind: Wedding Gown Storage
I've haven't purchased a wedding gown (yet), but I can tell from married friends that preserving that gorgeous and way-too-expensive gown is of top priority once all the celebrating is over. So how does one properly store their favorite wedding dress?

- First things first, never store your dress in a plastic bag for more than a few days. Just like you, your gown needs to breathe.
- Do not hang your dress like you would any normal garment. Chances are your dress is heavy so hanging it for a long period of time will not only take up room in your closet, it will weaken the seams.
- Start by laying your dry-cleaned dress flat and covering the whole thing with white tissue paper. I'd wear gloves during this process so as not to get lotions or oil on the dress.
- Next, fold and store your dress in a sealed cardboard box. Try to get a very large box to avoid folding the dress too many times.
- Be sure to store away from direct sunlight to prevent your dress from eventually turning yellow. The best spot is on a high shelf in an interior closet.
- Don't forget to check up on your dress once a year to make sure it's in good condition.
