San Francisco Fashion Week: Emily Jane

Texas-born designer Emily Jane showed on the first day of San Francisco Fashion Week and she instantly caught my eye with her fem/mas designs. What was interesting about her collection is that despite the masculine details (tuxedo-inspired blouses and bow ties), it retained an air of girliness and elegance.

Some taffeta dresses were bridesmaid-y, but on the flip side, belted silk frocks could pass for red-carpet looks. Lace skirts, ruffle blouses, polka dots, belts and high-waisted pencil skirts also made cameos.

These are special pieces, perfect for a special event! The looks that would make me feel the most Fab are the polka dot ruffle top paired with the black high-waisted pencil skirt and the black silk sleeveless turtleneck mini dress.

Fabworthy: Steve Alan Tartan Ruffled Panty

Lounge around at home in this Steve Alan Tartan Ruffled Panty, $33, and see how pleasantly surprised your boy toy will be upon arrival!

This isn't the first time we're seeing ruffled panties, but what makes these so lust-worthy is the fact that they are a contradiction: the ruffles are beyond girly and the tartan pattern so utterly manly!

If you're not comfortable walking around the house in next-to-nothing, wear it under a mini dress in case you should confront some wind!

Vintage

Fab Redux: Mesh Into It

I have long been a sucker for vintage mesh purses - there's just something so dated about them.

I have long been a sucker for vintage mesh purses - there's just something so dated about them. But it's a good dated, especially when the mesh purse is like this one, $18, from the 70s, with its grey tone and the cute little bow on top.

Just think: how great would it be paired with your new wide leg jeans for a little strut around the neighborhood?

San Francisco Fashion Week: Kirribilla

Kirribilla was one of my favorite collections at San Francisco Fashion Week.

Kirribilla was one of my favorite collections at San Francisco Fashion Week. One may argue it was one colorful dress after another but we all know I am a dress junkie!

The young label was founded in 2005 by three best friends whose goal was to make every girl feel like the prettiest one in the room. With design studios in San Fran and London, this was their third collection, and boy was it pretty!

With tropical music calming the room, the Spring/Summer collection was inspired by old time Hawaii. You will notice fine tailoring with an aloha twist. Flattering day and cocktail dresses in a sunset of colors flirted with the crowd but what really caught my eye were the details like coconut buttons, floral-inspired sleeves and cascading ruffles. All reminiscent of the Big Isle, this green and purple frock was a favorite - isn't it so very Zac Posen on a Hawaiian vacay?

Fab Flash: Preen Designs Collection for Topshop

Preen duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi are taking their modern Victoriana looks from the runway to the streets.

Preen duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi are taking their modern Victoriana looks from the runway to the streets. The less expensive collection will be sold at Topshop in mid-September, just in time for London Fashion Week (September 15-20)!

In true Preen fashion, the collection will be made of funky funnel necks, which double as cozy hoods, exaggerated hips, patent accents and more modern silhouettes. The color scheme will be rich aubergine and black, and fabrics include heavy crepes, wool cashmere and wool jersey. Yup, sounds like Fall!

Like yours truly, haute77 attended San Francisco Fashion Week last weekend. And she caught Fuchsia Fever on the way! Though we've seen our fair share of pink dresses, this Fab reader keeps it interesting by choosing one with girly tiered sleeves. Now that's one stylish pink lady!

Here's what she has on:

  • Dress: Bebe
  • Shoes: Bandolino

Congrats to haute77!

Celebrity Style: Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth looks very Proenza as she heads out from Sur restaurant on Robertson Blvd.

Kate Bosworth looks very Proenza as she heads out from Sur restaurant on Robertson Blvd. I gotta say, I like her because she consistently looks good. She never takes my breath away but she also doesn't make me cringe. I adore her Chloe Heloise bag and how she spiced up a simple strapless dress with a white tank!

The Look For Less: The Hermes Birkin

Ah, the Hermes Birkin: a mystery to the common fashionista but a confidant to the stars.

Ah, the Hermes Birkin: a mystery to the common fashionista but a confidant to the stars. In the case of Victoria Beckham, the Birkin is more than a friend - it's a lover! She has multiple colors - black, tan, pink...and these puppies go for $7,000 - $10,000 plus. One would be lucky to get one in a lifetime. We're not that lucky, but today, good fortune is upon us in the form of a Look For Less!

Trend Alert: Crocodile Rock

I've found the chic pebbled skin of the crocodile to be controversial.

I've found the chic pebbled skin of the crocodile to be controversial. A lux material indeed, would you fancy wearing an aquatic reptile on your arm? You know I've got a thing for python, so I'm thinking I could do the crocodile rock. These slithery handbags are streamlined and serious - they are the season's most urbane accessory. Will you rock it?

Fabarazzi!

Some of you may have noticed the user called Fabarazzi lurking around TeamSugar.

Some of you may have noticed the user called Fabarazzi lurking around TeamSugar. We decided to hit the streets and capture random acts of fashion. This will in no way affect the already fun and fab Look Book, this is just another way to see who, what, and where different and unique styles are. You'll never see them coming and Fabarazzi is everywhere so "say fashion!"

Doesn't this PYT look Just Dreamy? I am an official collector of everything heather grey so I adore her slightly buttoned grey sweater, and her navy striped dress whispers casual chic. As for that Louis Vuitton, well it's a Bag to Have! She polishes the look off with some summery sandals with sweet bows. Just dreamy.

If you are a budding Fabarazzi photog feel free to upload your own shots to my Street Style group. Word on the street is...fashion starts here!
