Love It or Hate It

New York Fashion Week Spring 2008, VPL: Love It or Hate It?

In honor of some of the polarizing looks showing at New York Fashion Week, I thought we would do a few fashion week editions of Love It or Hate It!

In honor of some of the polarizing looks showing at New York Fashion Week, I thought we would do a few fashion week editions of Love It or Hate It!

Take this Spring VPL ensemble, with its mustard, gray, and white color palette. It reminds me of an avant-garde ballet outfit, with its leotard-looking layered top and sheer lampshade-inspired skirt. So maybe it's not wearable in the real world, but even as conceptual fashion, do you dig it?

Fab Finding Follow Up: A Fab Fashion Week Soiree

I'm still working hard to bring you the latest from New York Fashion Week, so I still deserve to party hard once the runway lights have dimmed.

I'm still working hard to bring you the latest from New York Fashion Week, so I still deserve to party hard once the runway lights have dimmed. I'm thrilled that you remembered that I want to look good since I'll be rubbing elbows with the fashion cognoscenti.

I started you off with this Carlos Falchi Python Square-Buckle Belt, $485, because belts are still going to be in for Spring. That way, I will look like I'm on top of my fashion game.

To see the fashion week soiree finds go here. Let's see what you all came up with!

Oh! Now, you can build outfits by creating a list of clothing items. We have everything you need to build outfits with and you can use your Fab Find bookmarks too. This is an even better way to put together an entire outfit when you are completing your Fab Finding missions.

Look #1, created by WhiplashGirlchild is punky and spunky, just the way I - and Ashley Olsen - like it. Gimme those studded pumps now!

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2008: Anna Sui

The girls at Anna Sui reminded me of anime characters: they came down the runway with big toothy grins, crazy technicolor cropped 'dos, and eye makeup so heavy it was hard to recognize them.

But we're here to talk about the clothes, I think it can best be described as punk-meets-primp! Sequin spangled tulle flapper dresses, dizzying striped miniskirt suits, leopard print tops and see-through sweater vests were all paired with wedge sandals over colorful sheer socks.

This is definitely a polarizing collection, either you'll love it or you'll hate it, but if you like Manic Panic streaks, shiny ruffled ice skater skirts, and punk rock, I have a feeling you'll like it a lot!

Celebrity Style

Celebrity Style: Drew Barrymore

After looking at all those fancy schmancy New York Fashion Week outfits, I yearn for something a bit more casual, like Drew Barrymore's look at LAX.

After looking at all those fancy schmancy New York Fashion Week outfits, I yearn for something a bit more casual, like Drew Barrymore's look at LAX. I am envious of Drew's natural ability to throw on many accessories yet still look so simple and cool. I love those Gucci gladiator sandals and the long grey scarf. Way to travel in comfort and style.

Fab Flash: Naomi Campbell Spearheads Fashion for Relief

Looks like Naomi Campbell is going to reverse her bad reputation in the press by doing good.

Looks like Naomi Campbell is going to reverse her bad reputation in the press by doing good. The supermodel is planning a fashion show in London at the finale of London Fashion Week to raise money for the victim's of this year's UK floods. "As a British model, in my home town in London, I am honored to be able to put on and be involved in this kind of show," she said.

Naomi isn't going at this alone, though. She has asked fellow models Elle Macpherson, Jodie Kidd and Yasmin Le Bon to help out (all sported the Burberry T-shirt that will be sold to raise money for the cause at the London press conference). The latest word is that Kate Moss will also be a part of the project by designing some of the clothes on the runway.

Now that London Fashion Week is open to the public, perhaps you'll be able to see Naomi's production in person!

Who Wore It Better? Pink Preen Dress

Is it moi or are more and more celebs dressing alike lately?

Is it moi or are more and more celebs dressing alike lately? That's not so strange. What is weird is when they wear the same dress to the same event! Both Kate Bosworth and Thandie Newton donned Preen's pink dress at the Toronto Film Festival. Um, someone needs to have a talk with their stylists, especially since this is such a loud dress. Although Thandie looks gorgeous, I prefer Kate's midnight blue pumps! You?

Trend Alert

New York Fashion Week Trend Alert: Red

Bold, daring, powerful. Red has reared its beautiful head for Spring.

Bold, daring, powerful. Red has reared its beautiful head for Spring. What is usually a color associated with wintry weather and the holidays, come Spring juicy reds of cherry, strawberry and candy apple will steal the spotlight. I welcome this with open arms; it's been a while since I bought a fabulous LRD or red blouse. Here are some examples but be sure to also check out the matte red sequins at Tracy Reese and fruit punch red prints at Rachel Comey. Whether you like your reds bold or bolder, get ready to knock 'em red.

Carolina Herrera

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2008: Carolina Herrera

You'd never think to put Carolina Herrera, go-to designer for the ladies who lunch, in a corner with the flower power movement.

You'd never think to put Carolina Herrera, go-to designer for the ladies who lunch, in a corner with the flower power movement. But eat my words I will, because the lady is definitely feeling her florals - maybe not the psychedelic kind, but florals nonetheless.

The show began with a flower-emblazoned tank, and ended with a pretty pink strapless gown, awash with what else but big abstract flowers? In between came a shirtdess with poofy skirt and bow detailing, a maxi dress with polka dots and bias seams, and lots of cocktail-ready dresses, in reds, baby blues, white, and black.

I have to give it to Carolina, she does know her audience! Socialite wear extraordinaire, some of it is just not for me...
