Best of 2008: And the Handbag Designer of the Year Is . . .

No one's arguing that the handbag designer of the year is Chanel.

No one's arguing that the handbag designer of the year is Chanel. Balenciaga was close behind, but Chanel wins both your and my vote. Karl has a way of reinventing the classic with every collection. And, he manages to throw in comic relief, poking fun at the fabulous world of fashion. They may be some of the steepest priced bags out there, but we're all lusting over Chanel.

Fab Finger Discount: Banana Republic Tweed Fedora

Fedoras are still going strong and I can see why.
Banana Republic at ShopStyle

Fedoras are still going strong and I can see why. They flatter just about every face shape and have a slick appeal. I'm still lusting over Nicole Richie's fedora so I decided to find my own. This Banana Republic Tweed Fedora ($30, originally $60) will withstand the test of trendiness. The patent trim gives it a more feminine touch, and I adore the tweed print. One step closer to achieving Nicole's look!

I started you off with these Gorjana Gold Square Stackable Rings ($140) because they'll go with my exotic style. They're probably the only expensive piece of jewelry I'll take. Let's see what you all recommended.

Look #1, created by nancyluvs_greece, is just what I need. The floral dress is exotic and the neon green sandals are instant fun.

This year, our condolences were not only extended to people, they were also given to businesses.

This year, our condolences were not only extended to people, they were also given to businesses. It was the gasp heard around the world when Yves Saint Laurent passed in June. Mr. Blackwell, the man known for his annual worst-dressed list, also left us, as did Pinup queen Bettie Page. But more shocking were the deaths of longstanding retail stores such as Mervyn's and Steve & Barry's. What's more, Bill Blass decided to close its doors and the great Valentino Gharavani retired. Let's pay homage.
