Fab Finding Follow Up: Covering the Oscars!

Last week, I asked you to imagine you're heading to Hollywood to cover the Oscars red carpet on Sunday — and that you're freaking out a little bit about what to wear. You have to compete with people who have stylists and have been painstakingly planning what they're wearing for months, and you only have a week. Eeek! The only solution is to go glam, go all out, and get noticed!

I started you off with this Brian Atwood Daphne Metallic Clutch ($1,195) because it's chic and understated — so go crazy with the dress!

Let's see what you all came up with!

Look # 1, created by CocoChic is a nice slice of tangerine for the red carpet; the ruffles are extravagant and remind me of the soft nude dress Penelope wore last year to the Oscars.

Cashmere Mafia Fashion Quiz: "Dog Eat Dog"

Cashmere Mafia got a little more sensitive last night.

Cashmere Mafia got a little more sensitive last night. The usually career-crazy Mia Mason stopped worrying about work (and love) for once and thought about adopting a dog. Aw! On the flip side, Caitlin Dowd's love life went on a hiatus for her career. I was quite happy about that — her personal life is a bit too dramatic for my taste. Speaking of drama, now that Zoe is no longer a working woman, she moved on to controlling her family — she'll be back to work in no time. The red-haired Juliet decided to mix business with pleasure by dating a billionaire affiliated with her company. Must be nice. Take my quiz to see how well you were paying attention last night.

Be sure to read Buzz's recap of last night's episode!

Fab Flash: Ralph Lauren Launches American Living

Ralph Lauren and JC Penney have teamed up to launch American Living, an extensive new line of clothing.

Ralph Lauren and JC Penney have teamed up to launch American Living, an extensive new line of clothing. This marks the first time Ralph Lauren has created a brand for another retailer without using the Ralph Lauren name or some indication of the name like Polo or RLX.

American Living evokes the upscale American lifestyle that the Ralph Lauren brand is best known for — tailored navy blazers ($150), madras plaid skirts ($70), cable-knit sweaters ($60) — and is now available at 600 JC Penney stores and AmericanLiving.com.

Although the prices are 15 percent higher than other labels sold in JC Penney, Michael Boylson, chief marketing officer, counters that "with American Living you can have great style, great quality, at an affordable price." Are you convinced?

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2008: Dolce & Gabbana

The Dolce & Gabbana uomi have ditched sex appeal and embraced a more covered-up countryside style.

The Dolce & Gabbana uomi have ditched sex appeal and embraced a more covered-up countryside style.

Choice materials are rustic: plaid, tweed, a patchwork scarf print, and corduroy. Even the ball gowns had a Little Orphan Annie appeal — they were matte and muted. But there were some luxe elements — furs, sexy jeans, fun lace-up shoes, and silk scarves worn around necks. I'm not loving the new skirt silhouette of Fall — below the knee — but at least these designers offset it with tight knit sweaters on top. Lastly, there is an overarching British sensibility. I think these Italian designers should stick to what they do best: la dolce vita.
