The usually stoic Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld let loose (and even cracked a slight smile) in Madison Square Park on Wednesday while he took on his other occupation: photographer.

His current muse, gazelle-like model Raquel Zimmermann, posed and made silly faces while the designer snapped away for what I'm assuming is the next Fendi ad campaign. Of course, he didn't leave home without his fingerless leather gloves, dark shades, and square-toe boots. I'm digging the tweed trench coat he's donning. These models deserve praise because I can't imagine working with a photographer-slash-designer . . . Kaiser Karl no less!

I continue to love the resurgence of fabulous headgear on the runways. Not to be mistaken for the kind that involves braces, headgear can really add extra flair to any Spring ensemble.

A silk head wrap can complete a bohemian-inspired look, a straw fedora can make you look oh so suave, a visor can polish off a sporty outfit . . . you get the picture. Doesn't Chanel Iman (left) look adorable with her hat dramatically placed on the side of her head at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show? There are no rules when topping off, so get creative and lay something on that'll make you feel happy.

The April issue of Vogue has been feeling its share of media heat, first for the possibly suggestive cover with LeBron James and Gisele Bundchen, and now for one of the features inside. Last September, a Vogue editor suggested that Laura and Kate Mulleavy, the designers behind Rodarte, see a trainer and go on a diet. The sisters admitted that a doctor had told them to get in shape and said they wanted to be healthier, so they agreed and accepted four months of personal training and a meal-delivery service paid for by the magazine. As a result, Laura and Kate lost 50 pounds combined, all the while keeping a journal which appears in the April Shape issue.

The magazine has a history of chronicling staff diets, but objections rose that such a suggestion to an outside party was out of line. What do you think, are the ladies at Vogue just trying to rabblerouse or is the media concern deserved?

This has been a busy month for celebrities who want to try their hand at designing! In the wake of Rachel Bilson, Avril Lavigne, and Lindsay Lohan all announcing lines, Ashlee Simpson has joined the bunch.

The pop singer has partnered with Wet Seal to design a collection of tops that will launch simultaneously with her new album, Bittersweet World, on April 22. Inspired by Ashlee’s personality, sense of style, and her new album's artwork, the tops are said to be priced in line with the rest of Wet Seal merchandise. Kate Bosworth pressed on with her streak of stunning looks, nailing it again in Calvin Klein at the premiere of 21 in New York last night. She's been getting a little more experimental lately — I'm liking her edgier vibe. Her cropped blazer is minimal but has a cool structured feel to it, and that crossover gold necklace is the perfect finishing touch. Keep it up Kate!
