Have you ever played with fun-house mirrors? Staring at these Spring/Summer 2008 ads from Blumarine brings me back to those fun times. Finnish model Suvi Koponen is seen lounging on retro pink sofas, wearing Blumarine's lingerie-inspired collection. These ads are quite trippy, like I'm inside a lava lamp, so I can't look at them for more than a minute. Still, I appreciate the novelty and the hypnotizing effect. Despite the busyness of it all, you're able to make out the feminine clothes. Are you feeling these ads? Or are they making you woozy?
It's no big secret that actors and actresses love to mix and mingle with rock stars. So naturally, this year's Coachella brought out a gaggle of stars like Sienna Miller, Sean Penn, and Nicole Richie, just to name a few. Music is a big part of my life, but so is fashion (duh). Unfortunately, this year I can't enjoy both at the same time since the music is inaudible all the way from here. Yesterday, Juicy Couture filed a lawsuit accusing Victoria's Secret Pink of using similar ideas and icons, such as their trademark seat-of-the-pants Juicy logo (below). Also underscored was the fact that Victoria's Secret is selling apparel wrapped in the shape of lollipops and ice cream cones, mimicking the packaging used in Juicy's Sweet Shoppe.
The suit claims that Victoria's Secret is trying to capitalize on the success of Juicy Couture, which raked in a whopping $420 million in sales last year. The company is asking for the offending clothing to be destroyed and to be awarded triple damages. Victoria's Secret has made no comment, but do you think the lawsuit has merit?
Nicole Richie and her beau Joel Madden left little Harlow's side long enough to do some shopping. Fab! First up, the Diane von Furstenberg store in West Hollywood. Naturally, Nicole showed up in none other than the designer's halter maxi dress, which, unlike her tiered mini frock, makes her look long and lean. The new mommy ditched her signature oversized sunnies but couldn't part with her fancy Loubs. I can't say that I blame her.
Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis — they're delicious as a pairing of salt and caramel. Gwyneth Paltrow's Racy Red Carpet Style
Despite the gloomy N.Y.C. weather, Paltrow is all smiles as she hits the morning show circuit in skinny black pants, a billowy white top and bold gold bracelets.
I adore palm trees, but I don't think wearing them is necessarily stylish. The silhouette on this Palm Springs Dress in Dawn White and Blush ($260) is desirable but not so much the print. Perhaps it would be better if the quantity of palm trees weren't so much. What do you think . . . am I just being a palm-tree hater?
