Leave it to Blair Waldorf to scheme in style — this week's episode of Gossip Girl had Blair planning the studious Nelly Yuki's demise. You would never know that Blair wasn't the resident academic over-achiever in this preppy ensemble, though. From her perfect saddle shoes and argyle sweater to her prim little gloves and headband, her look practically redefines "polished." If only she spent less time conspiring and more time actually hitting the books . . . but then she wouldn't be Blair, would she?

French for an elegantly cut shoe in which the vamp of the shoe is cut away very close to the toe box, and the sides cut away, revealing the arch of the foot.
Manolo Blahnik is a big fan of the d'Orsay style as showcased by these Satin Fuchsia d'Orsay Pumps ($655).
Bill Blass creative director, Peter Som, has already used his creative genius to revitalize the brand's ready-to-wear, and now he is adding designer bags to the Bill Blass couture label as well as Bill Blass Collection handbags.
Not surprisingly, Som had the right idea from the very beginning. “I wanted them to be really luxurious, timeless bags,” he said. “The ultimate model is Hermés, whose bags are coveted for decades.” Consequently, the bags have minimal hardware, so looking outdated won't be an option. The couture selection, retailing from $1,800 to $18,000, includes bags with exotic skins like alligator, ostrich, and python. The more affordable collection handbags, retailing from $500 to $2,500, will be made with embossed leather, lambskin, and metallic goatskin. Look for them in August, at glass cases near you.
While the majority of fashion magazines continue to use predominantly white models, Vogue Italia is setting itself apart. The July issue of the quarterly publication will feature almost all black models photographed by Steven Meisel. While of-the-moment model Jourdan Dunn (left) will be featured inside, it remains to be seen who the title of cover girl will go to.
"We are using a lot of black models, like Iman, not only the models of today – a lot of different girls," Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani said. When asked why she decided to do this, she said: "Because nobody is using black girls. I see so many beautiful girls and they were complaining that they are not used enough."
This issue may potentially be ill-received in Italy, but Sozzani doesn't care. "Maybe in our country it is not the best idea. But I don't care. I think it is not my problem if they don't like it – it's their problem." You tell 'em Franca!
The Look — Flared Jeans
Stars are ringing in spring wearing classic bellbottom jeans. "Many versions of the flare jean have been seen over the past 40 years," say designers Jenna Andreola and David Lonstein of Anlo. "The flare remains the most universal fit and is a flattering style for almost every body type."
Sticky, hot Miami weather wasn't going to stop AngelaChristin from rocking leather pants — well sort of. These hot glazed jeans are the perfect substitute and give her the same leather look without sacrificing an ounce of style — pure genius.
Here's what she has on:
- Jeans: Seven for All Mankind
- Tank: Old Navy
- Shoes: Aldo
Congrats to AngelaChristin!

Naturally, we are seeing shoes of the Blanc de Blanc persuasion, what with the weather warming and all. This includes both white and off white options. While I'm a puritan who says go white or go home, sometimes white is too stark, too bright, too cheesy. Christina Ricci made it just right by balancing her moody Bill Blass floral dress with a pair of light ivory Manolos. As well, white might have been too bold against the red carpet — things only the keenest of stylists thinks of. Take a cue, or two, from this Blanc de Blanc beauty.
I'm totally stoked for my upcoming trip to Mexico, I had to share. And where am I going in Mexico you ask? Zihuatanejo. Try saying that three times fast. This vacay is going to be all about the beach, fun, and much-needed relaxation. I asked you to help me find looks that are easy going, but super cute — you never know who I'll run into!
I started you off with this Vanessa Bruno Sequin Trim Tote ($179) because it's equally Fab and sturdy enough to withstand the sand and sun. Let's see what you all came up with!
Look #1, created by lizzylu49, is beautiful and beach appropriate. The DVF tunic is casual yet Fab enough to wear out to dinner after soaking in the warm sun.
