I am always reading about the history of fashion to see where designers' inspirations come from and what experiences they went through in creating their artistic masterpieces. The Golden Age of Couture, Paris and London 1947-57 ($31), is highly recommended to any self-proclaimed couture addict. The book takes an in-depth look at Dior's authority on what was considered one of the most hailed fashion decades of all time. It also provides a behind-the-scenes look at famous fashion houses and features coveted couture gowns from the likes of Dior, Balenciaga, Balmain, and Givenchy. Get ready — couture week in Paris is very soon!

CC Skye Triple Cobra Stretch Bangles: Love It or Hate It?
I love stacking bracelets but I hate the clanging it creates while I'm typing away on my computer — can you hear it? Clack, clack, clack . . . These CC Skye Triple Cobra Stretch Bangles ($132), appeal to me because they have the same fun look minus the soundtrack. The interlinking bands are genius and will surely keep any fellow worker bees from throwing evil glances in my direction. Are you digging it?

Life's a Beach: Slick and Slide
Slick and slide your way down the boardwalk in some metallic flats. It's the perfect beach accessory and will complement any beachy look. Let's examine Helena Christensen here; she's nowhere near water, but that doesn't stop her from spicing up her silky navy ensemble with a pair of sexy gold flats. Slick, indeed.
On Our Radar: Old Navy Plus Summer Collection Now Online

Summer is the ideal time to let loose and Old Navy is allowing plus-size women to do so with its Women's Plus Summer Collection, now available to purchase online. You'll find covetable styles ranging from rock 'n' roll to nautical, sophisticated to exotic. Ruffles and floral prints abound, as do bows and colorblock. One darling dress even goes so far as to look Vena Cava-ish! Non plus-size gals, don't disregard this; most of the plus-size styles come in regular sizes, too.

Transformation: Anne Hathaway
Transformation: Anne Hathaway
When it comes to lipstick, Anne Hathaway is a prodigy. "My first play at the stuff was in my mother's bathroom," she has said. "I wanted big lips, so I took her red lipstick and proceeded to run it all over my face. I was five." The 25-year-old Get Smart star has remained a fan of the classic lippy, drawing comparisons to Hollywood legends.
Freaky or Fabulous? Viktor & Rolf Dolls
Viktor & Rolf have always set themselves apart with their Dutch eccentricity and experimental runways. They came onto the scene in 1996 and delivered their creations as art, or more accurately, as an art installation. For an upcoming retrospective, instead of featuring their clothes in the normal mannequin format, this dynamo duo chose something more . . . freaky.

Raise your hand if dolls freak you out a little bit? With their pale stillness and beady eyeballs, dolls have gotten a bad rap (Chucky, hello?). Fifty-five lucky dolls are to be decked out in V&R garb fashioned for an exhibit at the Barbican Art Gallery in London. The dolls will also be all prinked up with full hair and makeup. In Sunday's New York Times Magazine, Viktor Horsting elaborated, “Every garment is like a couture garment. Everything was scaled down — the embroideries, the prints, all the accessories.” This one wins fabulous to me, by a doll hair, what say you?
Fab Flash: More, More, More About Mary-Kate and Ashley's Elizabeth and James Jewelry
Start saving money — Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's jewelry line is due to hit stores in September. The Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth and James collection will consist of over 80 gold and silver pieces. Staying true to their unique style (see Mary-Kate's little bedecked hands below), look forward to seeing abstract earrings, necklaces, metal cuffs, and rings embellished with crosses and daggers along with beading.

Commenting on the collaborative collection, Ashley states, "We liked the idea of having playful elements along with timeless and ageless pieces. The symbols are attachable and you can take the jewelry and make it your own. There are solid silver and gold pieces to wear forever and comfort pieces that you'll put on and wear everywhere."
The pieces will retail from $65 to $700, and be sold at Intermix stores nationwide, Holt Renfrew, Lane Crawford, and On Pedder. The dynamic duo have also hinted to an upcoming shoe and bag collection. The suspense is killing me.

Celebrity Style: Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon
A while back I told you the Russian is coming, and now she's here. Kira Plastinina opened her first US boutique in LA, and gaggles of celebs came out to congratulate the teenager. Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, who wore a strapless orange bubble dress and gold Gucci sandals, was among the best dressed attendees. The bright orange hue and gold accessories complement her flawlessly. Props to her for rounding out the look with a black snakeskin clutch instead of matchy matchy gold.
