Fab Finding Follow-Up: Xanadu Nights

Last weekend I skated my heart out at a roller-disco party.

Last weekend I skated my heart out at a roller-disco party. It was so fun! And no, I didn't fall! Not once. I asked you to help me find a retro-cute look along the lines of bold colors, sequins, and skin. Thanks to you, I was the sweetest rockin' diva there.

I started you off with these American Apparel Stripe Knee-High Socks ($10) because they were oh so 70s.

Let's see what you all came up with!

Look # 1, created by gabitaitalia, is divinely diva. The denim romper is adorable and I love the handy fanny pack!

Fab's July Most Wanted

There are so many Fab things that come to mind when July rolls around: barbecues, Summer movies, hot hot heat, skimpy clothes, pool time, and sales! It just may be my favorite month of the year. I don't normally plan any trips during this month; I like to just kick back and enjoy Summer in the city. By now I've got most of my new warm-weather garb and I'm starting to think about what Fall trends I want to incorporate into my fashion arsenal. But don't get me wrong, fun in the sun is still the first thing on my mind.

Behind the Seams: Lanvin and Acne Jeans Blue Soiree

We got word a while back that Alber Elbaz was working on a Lanvin denim collection with Acne Jeans.

We got word a while back that Alber Elbaz was working on a Lanvin denim collection with Acne Jeans. At last the collaboration has come to fruition and where there's a new collection, there's a party. Eva Mendes, Liv Tyler, and Rachel Zoe all put on something blue and celebrated alongside Alber Elbaz at Hotel de Crillon in Paris (where the Crillon Ball was held on The Hills). Lucky ducks! There were balloons floating, models in denim roaming, and lots of posing. Step inside the fabulous shindig.

Life's a Beach: Hat Attack

Oh yo — I am wearing a hat as I write this.

Oh yo — I am wearing a hat as I write this. I kid you not. Meant to be . . . and yes, I am a purveyor of hats so I'm always ready for a hat attack. Speaking of, the most memorable hat as of late is Samantha Jones's in the Sex and the City movie. It was so grand, so elegant, so funny. Most hats don't cast such a dramatic spell as her oversized one, but a functional, and fashionable, hat most certainly can stand out on the Summer-filled sidewalk.

2008 Fall Couture: Chanel

Karl Lagerfeld has psychic powers.

Karl Lagerfeld has psychic powers. He is a designer who perfectly balances the history of a house with the future of fashion . . . how does he do it? Yet again, he delivered the upper echelon of fashion what they want: modern tweeds, luxurious evening pieces, smart frocks, and delectable finishes. While models curved the runway in Anna Wintour-esque bobs, they stunned in the typical icey Chanel palette of black, white, and grey, with splashes of pink and beige. Fur trims and flashy buttons surely raced a few heartbeats; beading and feathers most likely induced style salivation.

I can do without some of the volume play — especially around the sensitive hip area. True, the women who actually wear couture maintain their figures (otherwise they have to pay full price for a garment), but who wants their hips to be accentuated? Shoulder love is another story. The fluffy knits showed volume restraint and were scrumptious. The boxy coats were too '80s for my taste. Some gowns were lavish, especially those decidedly disheveled with shredded fabric, and some were simply over-the-top. And, the frame-like headpieces supplied that extra dose of the Lagerfeld we all know and worship.

After celebrating her birthday in Vegas, Kristin Cavallari jetted to Miami to partake in a celebrity golf tournament. I don't know how good her putting skills are, but I do know that she looked anything but preppy in her Young, Fabulous & Broke cream ruffle dress. Seeing as it was hot, Kristin wore wedge ankle-wrap espadrilles and aviator sunnies. Props to the reality star for retaining her girlie style despite being on the green.

My friend Genevieve has big feet (sorry hun).

My friend Genevieve has big feet (sorry hun). Size 11 to be exact. Don't get me wrong; Genevieve is a beautiful, smart gal, with jet black hair, and stands a little over six feet tall. Her only downfall is her gargantuan feet. Most major department stores don't stock her size and the rare times she finds a shoe in her size, they're ugly and old fashioned. If you can relate to Genevieve, check out BarefootTess.com.

This wonderful site specializes in selling trendy and fashionable shoes in sizes 6 to 15. Besides carrying their own line, BarefootTess.com carries a large — no pun intended — selection of popular shoes mongers including Chie Mihara, Corso Cormo, and Loeffler Randall. Stomp loud, stop proud.
