Come Fab Finding Follow Up: Black and White Luau

When you think of a luau, what do you see?

When you think of a luau, what do you see? Bright colors, flowers, and a roasted pig? Been there, done that. I'm throwing a luau but mine will be a fashionable black and white affair. Though pork isn't on the menu, there are lots of other Hawaiian-inspired goodies. I told you I needed a black and white outfit that's tropical but doesn't make me look like I shopped at a souvenir store.

I started you off with this Kenneth Jay Lane Large Flower Ring ($77) because it suits the theme perfectly. Let's see what you all came up with!

Look # 1, created by WhiplashGirlchild, couldn't be any more on theme. The palm tree dress is fabulous!

Lingerie Designer Spotlight: Undrest

While it's nice to be sexy in satin and lace, I like to switch things up in flirty cotton lingerie.

While it's nice to be sexy in satin and lace, I like to switch things up in flirty cotton lingerie. And, I was instantly smitten with lingerie brand Undrest. Designer Maria Paz Navales take inspiration from her adventures in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo and creates fun and luxurious cotton intimates.

Her feminine accents of ribbons and ruffles create a super-girlie line of cheeky (pun intended) and comfy sleepwear. My favorite from the bunch is this peek-a-boo undie. Granny panties? I think not!

Behind the Seams: Ports 1961 and Elle "Shop Your Closet" Launch Party

You may be curious to know what Nicky Hilton wore to the Ports 1961 and Elle Shop Your Closet book launch party.

You may be curious to know what Nicky Hilton wore to the Ports 1961 and Elle Shop Your Closet book launch party. I know I was. A $1,795 Ports 1961 layered lace dress that by the end of the night morphed into a one-shoulder frock. Lake Bell was also in attendance at the Ports boutique in LA, as was actress Leven Rambin. The night consisted of shopping (duh), sipping on white wine, and reading up on Shop Your Closet: The Ultimate Guide to Organizing Your Closet With Style by Melanie Charlton Fascitelli ($14). I won't give away much else. Step inside for the fun.

Who Wore It Better? 2006 Chanel Fall Couture LBD

Two fabulous ladies, one gorgeous Chanel couture dress.

Two fabulous ladies, one gorgeous Chanel couture dress. Can you believe Cate Blanchett first wore this 2006 Chanel Fall couture dress in 2006 at the London premiere of Volver? Socialite Daphne Guinness recently resurrected the same dress and wore it at the Chanel couture collection show. Cate kept her look simple with black opaque tights and boots, while Daphne stepped it up a couple notches with a wide belt and chunky platforms. Whose version do you prefer?

Fab Flash: It's Judgment Time For Delebrities

As the Fall season rolls around, celebrity designers (coined by WWD as delebrities), will be judged.

As the Fall season rolls around, celebrity designers (coined by WWD as delebrities), will be judged. With stores constantly on the hunt for the hottest commodity, it comes as no surprise that Hollywood entertainers like LL Cool J, Avril Lavigne, and Rachel Bilson are eager to get a cut of the action. LL Cool J for Sears, Abbey Dawn for Kohl's by Avril Lavigne, and Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans will soon hit stores. Like many celebrity designers, they have ventured into a risky retail game and only time will tell if they will fail or prevail.

So what do the experts predict? "With all the competition out there, I really can't see girls seeking out clothing from LL Cool J for themselves to wear. Rachel Bilson, on the other hand, is a modern classic. She has great style and girls will want to dress like her. I could see her line lasting a long time" said Lisa Chase of CelebrityEverything.com, a website for the celebrity-obsessed crowd. Chase also predicts a short run for Lavigne's line at Kohl's.

It looks like you all are over the whole celebrity designer trend but I guess we'll just have to ride it out!

Celebrity Style: Anne Hathaway

Is that a macho watch I spot on Anne Hathaway's arm?

Is that a macho watch I spot on Anne Hathaway's arm? The actress continued to dabble with menswear at the Get Smart London photocall. She left her sexy frocks behind for a minimalist black blazer and mini shorts by Jenni Kayne, and a gray tank. Her Giuseppe Zanotti metallic sandals provide just enough dazzle and femininity to the ensemble. Anne's fashion metamorphosis continues . . .

Fall Glimpse: Separate Together

Admittedly, I got very used to the ease and femininity of the dress.

Admittedly, I got very used to the ease and femininity of the dress. The dress had a good run — and now my closet is bursting with them — but it's time to be more creative. The return of sportswear for Fall will bring many brilliant separates; micro-mini and calf-length skirts, scrunchy skinny, and slouchy, baggy pants, sheer and boldy printed tops, and some freakin' amazing outerwear.

Michael Kors is one man who has always done separates divinely (wave to Jourdan Dunn at left). If you choose to go the Mad Men route, he is your fashion God. If you're more of a mix master, dig Just Cavalli. For modernists, Y & Kei's sculptured jacket and serious slacks inspire.
