Fab Finding Follow Up: Burritos y Mojitos Fiesta

A good friend of mine and her mom share the same birthday month, so they came together and threw a burritos y mojitos birthday fiesta! Although Mexico-inspired attire wasn't mandatory, I told you I wanted to show up in something festive but also fashionable. Taking your suggestions into consideration, here's what I wore!

I started you off with this Free People Raffia Fedora ($68) because it agrees with the theme and would protect me from the sun. Let's see what you all came up with!

Look # 1, created by so crispy, puts me in the mood. Each piece conjures images of Mexico.

Behind the Seams: Nordstrom Fall 2008 Designer Preview

Seeing runway photos is not nearly as enticing as seeing the clothes live, and Nordstrom's Designer Preview 2008 reiterated that fact.

Seeing runway photos is not nearly as enticing as seeing the clothes live, and Nordstrom's Designer Preview 2008 reiterated that fact. For example, Bill Blass's gray/black tulle-bodice strapless dress — you know, the one Anne Hathaway wore at the Get Smart premiere — literally came to life before my eyes on the catwalk. While I admired it on Anne, I fell madly in love with it that night because I saw the way the bottom half of the dress danced as the model pranced down the runway. Donna Karan, Stella McCartney, Derek Lam, Missoni, Valentino, Michael Kors, Peter Som, Burberry Prorsum, Vera Wang, and Versace also each showed about a dozen Fall looks.

The night was centered around the runway, but the pre- and postparty was also a blast. Clothes hanging on tall racks gave guests, including myself, the chance to get up close and personal with their catwalk faves, while champagne and hors d'oeuvres kept us satiated. Oh, and I got to meet the ultimate San Francisco socialite, Joy Bianchi!

Fab Blab: Maggie Gyllenhaal Cares What the Media Thinks

Judging from Maggie Gyllenhaal's nonconformist sense of style, you wouldn't think she cares about what other people, including the tabloids, say about her fashion choices.

Judging from Maggie Gyllenhaal's nonconformist sense of style, you wouldn't think she cares about what other people, including the tabloids, say about her fashion choices. But she's only human, and in August's Marie Claire (on set, left), she confesses her feelings about finding herself on "worst dressed" lists.

"Sometimes it freaks me out. I've been so hurt and felt so bad." Luckily, the actress is learning to move on with her life, saying "People will always say mean things about you if you put yourself out there."

Ain't that the truth. If you don't take risks, you'll never get ahead, and that goes for fashion as well. We love you and your wardrobe choices, Maggie, and we hope you continue to spice up the red carpet.

This Just In: Sneak Peek the Project Runway Digs
I'm sure that many of you, like myself, will be tuning in to the first episode of season five of Project Runway tonight. I only hope that there are as many great designers this season as there were in season four! While I can't predict the talent level of this season's contestant pool (though I suspect it's high), I can tell you that contestants, who had previously been housed at New Gotham for the last season, are back to the original digs at Atlas New York.

Fall Glimpse: Knit Parade

Knits always feel right fireside.

Knits always feel right fireside. Fall's knit parade keeps things interesting with new silhouettes, pops of color, and dramatic styling. Missoni, adored for its signature knits, threw this tunic on Freja (left) atop colorful layering. Duly noted. It looks nonchalant and studied — how do they do it? For something more shocking, dig Rodarte's spiderweb knits that had everyone talking. Knit me off a piece of that.

Fab Flash: Rachel Bilson, Star in Her Own Campaign

Judgement time is around the corner and Rachel Bilson's pulling out all the stops to make her first venture as a celebrity designer a success.

Judgement time is around the corner and Rachel Bilson's pulling out all the stops to make her first venture as a celebrity designer a success. The Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans campaign will feature the star in her own designs.

"Our customer has a real emotional connection with Rachel, and she's always on the best-dressed lists, so it seemed like such a win-win for us. Rachel has real personal style and she is very involved in every step. You can really see that in the collection" said president of DKNY Jeans, Kevin Monogue.

Project Runway, Episode 1 "Let's Start From the Beginning"

Project Runway fanatics know that last night's challenge — creating clothes out of items from Gristedes Supermarket — was nothing new.

Project Runway fanatics know that last night's challenge — creating clothes out of items from Gristedes Supermarket — was nothing new. Hence the title of the episode, "Let's Start From the Beginning." And start from the beginning they did because they brought on Season 1 contestant, and winner of the original Gristedes challenge, Austin Scarlett, as a guest judge. Not surprisingly, the 16 designers freaked out upon hearing their challenge. I bet you half of them didn't even pay attention to Austin's instructions as they were busy visualizing which aisle they were going to run to. While some of them, including some of my favorites, were a little bit of a let down, others stepped up to the plate and impressed us.

Celebrity Style: Victoria Beckham

Is that a crack of a smile on Victoria Beckham's nude pout?

Is that a crack of a smile on Victoria Beckham's nude pout? Now that's more like it. It must be the positive energy radiating from her pale yellow Roland Mouret dress. Add a pair of favorite dVb sunnies and leopard print Loubs, and I would be smiling too. Victoria, with gorge man in tow, appeared at the ESPY Awards, both looking happy and healthy. I also totally dig her '60s do. How about you?
