Dita Von Teese

Designer Spotlight: Jayson Brunsdon

Designer Jayson Brunsdon is no newcomer.

Designer Jayson Brunsdon is no newcomer. The designer, who has recently been appointed to play Michael Kors' counterpart in the Project Runway Australia panel, has 20 years of designing experience. This has led Brunsdon to achieve fashionable success with celebrity fans including Hilary Swank, Naomi Watts, Linda Evangelista, and Dita von Teese.

Brunsdon's Fall collection stays true to his iconic style with modern, elegantly-cut pieces mixed in with a bit of eccentric glamour. One of my favorite pieces is this merino wool Mischief Dress. The punchy teal color and suspender-like straps give the classic-cut dress a modern and funky twist. And that top hat was a fine styling choice.

Life's a Beach: Sensational Sunnies

Life simply cannot be a beach without a pair of sensational sunnies.

Life simply cannot be a beach without a pair of sensational sunnies. Not only do they protect your eyes from harmful UV rays, but they instantly boost your cool factor — that's why celebs wear them, right? Cheekiness aside, a pair of sunglasses is all you need to get the party started. Who better to exhibit this look than king of fashion Karl Lagerfeld and supermodel Claudia Schiffer? Done and done.

Freaky or Fabulous? Meet Martin Margiela, Balloon Artiste

I am so thankful Martin Margiela is around.

I am so thankful Martin Margiela is around. While Couture is blooming in Paris this week, some designers are showing their noncouture, but equally stunning, collections.

What you see here is from the house of Maison Martin Margiela. The Belgian designer continues to toot his own horn, and this collection was made of so-called "artisanal" pieces. Never one to shy away from unconventional materials, how do you feel about wearing a jacket made of balloons? Of all the party balloons concoctions I've witnessed — including some ill hats — I've never seen one of these. This puts those seasoned craftsmen to shame. Margiela used 30 balloons, some inflated, all twisted together. I think it's darn Fab. Side note: Come November, the designer will launch a line of fine jewelry in collaboration with Italy's Damiani. Fab Redux: Not So Short Shorts

Shorts had some really good years during the '70s.

Shorts had some really good years during the '70s. The Fab fave decade also bared a lot of skin. One of my mottos is if you've got it, and many of you have got the gams, flaunt them. If you aren't comfortable in a mini skirt or short shorts, consider these Vintage Denim High Waisted Shorts ($24). The waist is 28, and on that topic: the high waist is just right. The little dots are adorable and you can jazz these up or down.

What Hands-Free Accessory Do You Have For Driving?
Starting today, putting that cell phone to your ear while you're on the road will earn you a ticket if you're in California. Our state is joining NYC in making it illegal to talk on a cell phone unless you're using a hands-free device while driving. Savvy geeks like us may already own devices (I have an earpiece even though I'm not a driver), but some people will surely be popping into the store to grab a new accessory.

2008 Fall Couture: Jean Paul Gaultier

If Ursula from The Little Mermaid had a closet, many pieces from Jean Paul Gaultier's 2008 Fall Couture collection would hang in it.

If Ursula from The Little Mermaid had a closet, many pieces from Jean Paul Gaultier's 2008 Fall Couture collection would hang in it. First thing you notice when dissecting this line is the intricate details such as piping that can be mistaken for octopus legs.
The bright colors — cobalt, neon yellow, orange, green — take center stage and up the drama factor. Protruding feathers on several dresses also stand out. Fur, leather, and satin play a key role. Leather gloves with neon piping are badass while fur collars are sophisticated. While most pieces are creature-like, some give a nod to the equestrian theme. I can't say that any of the pieces are translatable to real life but they sure electrocute the runway!

Fab Flash: Michael Kors Dives Deep Into Swimwear

"Swim is such an integral part of my design philosophy.

"Swim is such an integral part of my design philosophy. It's not about swimwear per se; it's part of my customer's lifestyle" Kors shares. That said, fans will be able to splish splash their way in Michael Kors' revamped swimwear line. A recent partnership with Swimwear Anywhere Inc. has enabled the designer to create an extensive collection of swimsuits for all beach loving creatures.

His first Resort collection, set to launch in October, will include a large selection of bikinis and retro one-pieces. The Michael Kors Collection will cost $90 to $140 at high end retailers including Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue while the better-priced swimwear collection, Michael Michael Kors, will be sold at Macy's and Lord & Taylor with items ranging from $84 to $110. I've been a long time fan of Kors' warm-weather wares, so I'm sure this will be a success.

Celebrity Style: Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson introduced her new man to her mom Goldie during a casual afternoon lunch in Santa Monica.

Kate Hudson introduced her new man to her mom Goldie during a casual afternoon lunch in Santa Monica. The actress also showed off her love of flowy dresses by wearing a teal halter maxi by T-Bags and accessorizing with Giuseppe Zanotti buckle sandals and an ostrich bag. Seeing as Santa Monica is an urban beach community, this comfy-cum-cute ensemble is quite appropriate.
