Fab Finding Follow-Up: Float Me Down the American River (Wheeeee!)

How does celebrating your birthday by breezing down the American River on super-size floats sound?

How does celebrating your birthday by breezing down the American River on super-size floats sound? Dangerously fun, right? Such was my adventure last weekend with birthday girl Emily. We all had a blast relaxing on the float, picnicking by the water, jumping off bridges, and fending off river folk via water fights.

I started you off with this See by Chloe Rainbow Oversized Canvas Tote ($135) because I needed something hot to put all my supplies in. Let's see what you came up with!
Look # 1, created by annebreal, is adorably sporty. I don't normally do sporty, but this event calls for it.

This Just In! Peter Som Resigns From Bill Blass

Peter Som has just resigned from his position as the creative director of Bill Blass.

Peter Som has just resigned from his position as the creative director of Bill Blass. The company, which has been under financial turmoil, made a decision to forgo participating in Fashion Week in September. This was reportedly the last straw that lead Som, who has only been with the company for one year, to leave the company.

Representatives for Bill Blass and Som did not return calls for comment. I guess his one stellar Fall collection for the house will be his last.

Update: That Fall collection will not be his last! Apparently he is contractually bound to present his Spring 2009 collection in New York in September. The fate of Som and the house of Bill Blass lay in the hands of the fashion gods. What pray you?

Update: Peter Som and Bill Blass financiers, NexCen, are currently working on resolving their issues. According to a source, Som is upset but willing to work with the company on the 2009 Spring collection which includes showing the collection to retailers in their showroom instead of the runway. The source also believes that Som would definitely continue working at Blass if NexCen is able to sell Blass to an owner that will support Som's vision for the company.

Fab Body Guide: Dangerous Curves Ahead

Leighton Meester's body is smokin', but by no means curvalicious.

Leighton Meester's body is smokin', but by no means curvalicious. So why am I using her as a poster child for curves? Because in her BCBG dress, she proves that you don't need major curves to look womanly. Here, her body looks more hourglass-like than usual, thanks to the dramatic racerback bodice of her LBD.

Notice how the straps sit closer in, away from her shoulders, and how the sides dramatically curve below her armpits? That inverted cutout draws in your gaze and makes you picture an hourglass figure. Of course, a body-conscious fit also helps to move this illusion along. Watch out, dangerous curves ahead!

Celebrity Style: Kelly Osbourne

It feels like only yesterday when Kelly Osbourne made the transition from grungy to fabulous, but it's been a good half a year.

It feels like only yesterday when Kelly Osbourne made the transition from grungy to fabulous, but it's been a good half a year. Time flies when you're looking good. The Brit continued her stylish streak in a sleek Theory dress, geometric earrings, pointy pumps, and a healthy tan. I wonder what daddy Ozzy thinks about his little girl's style metamorphosis?
