It's not often a television ad grabs me. Honestly, I fast forward through all ads these days — thanks, TiVo! But Levi's, the original denim brand, is always worth stopping for. They have fantastic ads. This one is a special pre-Fashion Week treat. The black and white combined with the music as narrator really draws you in to focus on the story. And the story goes, let's peel back the layers of fashion and frills to life's basics: Levi's and love. The backwards effect is a bit Memento-ish, but I feel it. Do you?

Just because Gossip Girl Blake Lively has hit instant fame doesn't mean she can't still shop on a budget. She can and she did recently with this Alpinestars Chambray Shirtdress ($68) she wore on her way to The Late Show With David Letterman. The bodacious blonde is really into casual shirtdresses, but considering the weather is warm and her body is hot, I can't blame her. I like how she rolled up the sleeves and went unbuttoned for an effortless feel. The dress could use some ironing, but since it's a casual style, it works.
Bag fiends, listen up. Luna Boston's sale section is stuffed with purses, from metallics to patents, evening bags to oversize styles.
Take a lookie at this Rafe Coco Large Tote ($275, originally $550). What appeals to me are the subtle floral perforations. Styles from Lauren Merkin, Foley + Corinna, Badgley Mischka Platinum, and Cynthia Rowley are also up for grabs, so start grabbing.
Gucci's latest folksy collection is destined to be a huge inspiration for Fall ensembles. In the meantime, get the Summer version of the trend with this Ethnic Cotton Tent Dress, one size fits all. With lots of gold and ethnic accessories, you'll be set. Come next season, throw on a pair of fringed, studded suede boots and a coin belt to mimic Gucci's runway.
The current bidding price is at $18.50, and the auction ends on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Good luck and happy bidding!
It was love at first sight when I saw this white sheath dress with fur back in Giambattista Valli's Fall show. I thought model Tanya D. lent much-needed delicateness to it. Seeing it now on Victoria Beckham, I can't say that I love it as much. There's no doubt the dress is still stunning and visionary, but I think Posh's features are too blunt for such a dainty dress. And her stiff posing doesn't help. What do you say? Do you love or hate Victoria in Valli?
If you thought Michelle Obama's teal Maria Pinto sheath was Fab, get a load of her in Thakoon. When was the last time we saw a lady of politics in a print? And, a neckline with some flair? As well, you all know I love the red and purple color combination so I'd love this dress on anyone. But not just anyone wore it last night at the Democratic National Convention. This choice doesn't come as surprise to fashion followers.
Not only was Michelle on Vanity Fair's International Best Dressed list this year, she has been wearing an interesting mix of designers like Isabel Toledo, Tom Binns, and White House Black Market — she is playing the fashion field. This Summer she attended a fund-raiser in her honor in New York where fashion folks Zac Posen, Iman, Tory Burch, Catherine Malandrino, and many more sang praise to the potential First Lady. But this Thakoon Resort printed sheath is stellar; it's unique, festive, and professional. Her minimal jewelry is a must with such a stand-alone dress and her black patent flats have Jackie O written all over them.
