Fab Finding Follow-Up: Consignment Shopping

The flailing economy is something everyone should consider before making a purchase.

The flailing economy is something everyone should consider before making a purchase. Unemployment is at a four-year high, so penny pinching is the smart thing to do. To curb my appetite for shopping without feeling guilty, I hit up loads of consignment stores. It beat paying staggering retail prices, and I saved the environment in my own Fab way. I asked you to help me put together a stylish shopping-conducive outfit.

I started you off with this Urban Outfitters Crosstown Suede Saddle Bag ($68) because I love the shape and convenient zipper top. Let's see what you all came up with!

Look #1, created by jasmint, is fashionable with a geeky edge. Just the right look for a thrift spree.

Fabworthy: A Slip Worth Showing

Usually when someone tells you your slip is showing, it's not a good thing.

Usually when someone tells you your slip is showing, it's not a good thing. Well, times are a-changin'. Your Slip Is Showing makes it acceptable to show off your underthings. But we're not talking any old nude slip here. As you can see, the brand has made slips so delicate and desirable that they may as well be skirts. There are 18 styles, decorated with feathers, ruffles, lace, velvet, and tulle. Depending on the look you're trying to exude, you can opt for super feminine styles or more va-va-voom vixen ones. Prices range from $94 to $225. What I'm envisioning is a simple LBD with a sexy slip as a sneak peek. Gorg(eous).

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Throw On Jackets

So maybe Harem and pajama pants aren't your cup of Chai. I'm sure a throw on jacket will appease your fashion taste buds. Blazers and tuxedo jackets have been in vogue for a while now, so I was excited to see variations on motorcycle jackets, cardigans, short-sleeve trenches and more. I especially perked up for floor-grazing cardigans and ruffled jackets. But this Yigal Azrouel sporty jacket is a vision; I love how the collar flapped in the runway wind just so.

Matthew Williamson Digital Print Scarf: Love It or Leave It? Not since those pixelated necklaces have I seen something so gorgeously geeky — and I mean in the I-would-wear-this way! This Matthew Williamson Digital Print Scarf ($225) is a sight to be admired — a fab designer scarf in a subtle geeky print — but is it too much? And by "it," I mean the price and the techie sentiment. What do you think?
