Fab Finding Followup: Raise the Roof

The weather is still warm and I love it.

The weather is still warm and I love it. Last week I attended a hotel rooftop pool party with a bunch of friends. I'm sure I'll cherish the memory come next season's gusty winds. Lots of splashing, drinking, munching, and some dancing were involved. Who was up for the challenge of dressing me? I asked you to help me find a super-cool bathing suit, sandals, a hat, and a coverup. Long live Summer!
I started you off with this Marc Jacobs Collection Carter Wristlet ($595) because all I needed to carry was cash.

Look #1, created by KikiM, is all about gold and earthtones. That Missoni caftan is hippie chic.

Fashion Week Quickie: Colette x Gap Sets Up Shop in NYC

If you can't go to Paris, let Paris come to you.

If you can't go to Paris, let Paris come to you. That was Gap's mentality when it decided to collaborate with renowned Paris boutique Colette to create a one-month installation in New York City.

The Colette x Gap concept store, adjacent to Gap's flagship store at 54th and 5th Avenue, will operate from Sept. 6 through Oct. 5 and will sell hard-to-find products from around the world. Products include Colette-designed Oakley sunglasses, limited-edition Gap tees with prints by Paris versus New York artists, Repetto BB shoes, and more. This is the first Colette store in the US, but hopefully it won't be the last. Oh, and you know I'll be sure to check it out when I'm in town for Fashion Week.

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Rachel Roy

Spotting Veronica Webb (in Fall '08 Roy) on the sidewalk upon entering Rachel Roy's Spring presentation really set the tone for the decadent clothes.

Spotting Veronica Webb (in Fall '08 Roy) on the sidewalk upon entering Rachel Roy's Spring presentation really set the tone for the decadent clothes. Set in an airy space on the far west side, the sparse and AC-perfect atmosphere was the canvas for highly embellished, highly fantastic clothes. Before we talk clothes, notice the banded Manolo Blahnik for Rachel Roy shoes and the quirky Roy-designed accessories. This woman delivers the total look. The clothes delivered red carpet drama, sophisticated cocktail wares, and laid back elegance. Upon close inspection, notice details like embroidery, studs, lace, and even words (see the Muse ivory dress). Volume play, though a terrific theory, should be saved for the model who wears it — but it's eye candy no less. I can see a mother, daughter, starlet, and myself wearing these multidimensional muses.

Project Runway Style: Diane von Furstenberg

Fabulous guest judge alert!

Fabulous guest judge alert! Diane von Furstenberg joined Heidi, Michael, and Fern Mallis (filling in for Nina Garcia) to critique the designs of the Project Runway contestants. Their challenge was to create a look that would fit seamlessly into Diane's Fall collection. Diane herself offered the perfect inspiration as she was wearing a dress from her namesake line. Follow Diane's lead and pair it with a men's watch.

Project Runway Style: Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum looked as polished as ever in her printed grey sheath dress.

Heidi Klum looked as polished as ever in her printed grey sheath dress. The square neckline is very sweet but the patent belt gives the look a slight rocker edge. In other words, this would be the perfect transitional outfit from day-to-evening. Add some black heels and earrings, and you've got the Klum look covered.

Project Runway Style: Nina Garcia

For this promo still promoting Project Runway, Nina Garcia wore a dress eerily similar to a design by Diane von Furstenberg.

For this promo still promoting Project Runway, Nina Garcia wore a dress eerily similar to a design by Diane von Furstenberg. Which would be fitting since Miss DVF herself guest judged an episode during season 5. Unfortunately, this specific dress, the Domino Tube Dress, isn't available online in Nina's color, but you can get it in chocolate or "flame." Spring for the orange option and you'll stand out like Nina.

Project Runway Style: Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman looked simply marvelous in her strapless sweetheart dress.

Natalie Portman looked simply marvelous in her strapless sweetheart dress. This particular episode was all about eco-friendly fabrics, so it was very appropriate that Natalie wore green. Add some key accessories, like the black belt Natalie donned, to make the dress a little more modern.

Diane von Furstenberg Rates the (Project) Runway

The pressure was on during last night's episode of Project Runway.
Project Runway With Diane von Furstenberg

The pressure was on during last night's episode of Project Runway. The queen bee of prints and wrap dresses, Diane von Furstenberg, was present to rate the runway and give one lucky competitor an opportunity of a lifetime. The designers were asked to create a look for the fashion legend using reference from her Fall line. Some designs were on point — take a lookie at Leanne's royal blue ruffled frock seen left — and others, well, not so much. See all of their hard work and tell me which is your favorite.
