First Lady Style: Michelle Obama in Isabel Toledo

Yellow. Lemongrass, to be exact.

Yellow. Lemongrass, to be exact. It's a known fact that yellow is an uplifting, optimistic color. What better choice, then, for the new first lady for the swearing-in ceremony this morning. While her tots wore colorful J.Crew Crewcuts (so cute), Michelle continued the delight in a custom Isabel Toledo coat and dress. The Cuban-born designer did not know this would be Michelle's choice today — imagine the designer's delight. The delicious design was quite luxurious, made of Swiss wool lace, backed with netting for warmth, and lined in pale pink French silk. About the cheery color, “I wanted to pick a very optimistic color, that had sunshine,” Toledo said. Michelle didn't stop the color there. Her olive green leather gloves and teal Jimmy Choo shoes were unexpected additions. I know everyone is comparing Michelle to Jackie O, but Jackie would definitely approve of this. What I adore most about Michelle's look is the texture, the slight overall sparkle, and fancy neckline. Not in a long while has a first lady experimented with color, texture, and embellishments.

Gossip Girl Fashion Quiz: "You’ve Got Yale!"

A night at the opera can never be a quiet night on Gossip Girl.

A night at the opera can never be a quiet night on Gossip Girl. All the events of the hour led up to a dramatic evening of ball gowns and sharp suits. The impending question of college resurfaced with acceptances and rejections from Yale. Serena was faced with the challenge of introspection and came to the realization that Yale isn't her cup of tea. Blair, on the other hand, is beyond obsessed and proved she will stop at nothing to get into her school of choice. Meanwhile, Lily steps in in an attempt to help Chuck decide his future and in turn Chuck saves Lily from doom. The happiest bits of this week's episode were the out-in-the-open affection between Lily and Rufus — yay. Let's see if you picked up on the fashion nuances.

Celebrity Style: Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway is a red carpet regular, but it's nice to see her in something other than a gown.

Anne Hathaway is a red carpet regular, but it's nice to see her in something other than a gown. The actress roamed Spain in a highly layered look that demands attention. Let's start with her hat — a Burberry newsboy cap, circa 2007, which I also own. The rest of her outfit consists of a button-down plaid shirt, black coat, Frye boots, a gray See by Chloe satchel, and a paisley scarf. It's a lot of pieces but they all come together quite harmoniously, right?
