Wow. It's not every week my faves elicit that response. The holiday party circuit seems to be revving up and it shows in star's styles. Celebrities are letting their guard down and experimenting with silhouettes, textures, frills, and fun — that's what I'm talking about. Camilla Belle exhibited all these with her futurama Alexander McQueen frock; it nearly took my breath away. Pale Casadei heels and Cartier jewels topped her off. If you can break away from the fabulousness, peruse the rest of this week's beauties . . .

The ever-cool Chloë Sevigny didn't let us down in the style department while out in LA. She tucked a striped tee into a great pair of high-waisted jeans and went for something unexpected with black cowboy boots. An oversize and slouchy heather wool sweater worn over her shoulders — similar to this J. Crew men's one — and chic circular sunglasses completed the look. Shop similar items now!
Mary-Kate and Ashley's new line, Olsenboye, dropped at JCPenney stores and jcp.com today. The prices are low to begin with, but a lot is even further on sale. Plaid shirts, casual tees, tie-dye bags, and ruffled shoes are just some pieces the twins dreamed up for their junior fans. You'll notice, the peace sign is a major motif. Shop away.
Christina Ricci looked pretty in plaid walking down the street in Los Angeles. Her bomber jacket looked great with skinny jeans and black ballets, while her gray Chanel bag and glamorous oversize sunglasses added just the right amount of sophistication to her casual ensemble. Shop like items here!

Just last week we read that the price of designer denim was dropping. Granted, many big name jeans still sell for $200, and some people rationalize that price for a basic wardrobe staple they wear several times a week. I myself have fallen victim to fashion stupidity and shelled out over $200 on Sass & Bide jeans. They're gray stretch denim, and are my favorite pair I've ever owned. Maybe after wearing them for four years non-stop, I might get my money's worth. Though I'm not the type of person who has 40 pairs of jeans, I have about six and wear them to death, so I don't mind spending a little more. That said, the most recent pair I bought cost $70. It is a recession after all! So imagine how annoyed I was to see this new pair of jeans by Acne, adorned with some type of modern body armor, selling for $2,000. Those ridiculous things had better protect you — they cost more than several months rent!

Camilla Belle and Katy Perry's styles couldn't be more different, but clearly the two have a shared love for white, feathery Marchesa. Camilla first wore this gorgeous piece from the Spring '10 line at an event in LA a couple weeks ago. She paired it with strappy black sandals and sparkly jewels. Then Katy sported the same fancy frock onstage at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards in Germany with a pair of sequined pumps. Both look like delicate swans, but who wore Marchesa better?
