2009 was the year for home shopping. It felt as though every other story involved either QVC or HSN. Before getting dolled up for her New Year's Eve festivities, Vanessa Hudgens was spotted in a cozy and relaxed ensemble as she stopped for coffee with girlfriend Ashley Tisdale. She covered up her printed gray tank with a matching sweater coat which she wore with some distressed jeans, very similar to these ones by Current/Elliott, and black suede boots. There was a reason why we went J.Crazy for J.Crew in '09. Creative director Jenna Lyons took the brand to a whole new level, surprising every stylista — from prepsters to hipsters — with its girly tomboy aesthetic. There were tailored blazers, ruffly jeweled-embellished tops, beautiful baubles, and boyfriend jeans abound. CEO Millard “Mickey” Drexler was showcased on CBS’s Sunday Morning, and who can forget J.Crew's presidential endorsement: Michelle Obama. Indeed, it was a crazy cool year. Whether you love her or hate her, you have to admit, 2009 was Lady Gaga's year. Our Fabcon started the year off with fearless ensembles — mainly sans pants — and continued with Madonna-caliber fierceness. She even had the honor of meeting Queen Elizabeth II. I recently saw Gaga in concert, and all I can say is, she's insanely sexy, forward, and inspirational. I look forward to more Gaga madness in '10, but in the meantime, check out her daring '09 ensembles.
