Last night, Oscar de la Renta's LA boutique was transformed into a book signing extravaganza. More than 150 people gathered to get a signed copy of The World in Vogue: People, Parties, Places ($48) by European editor-at-large for Vogue, Hamish Bowles.
It features more than 300 photographs of models, actors, artists, first ladies, and socialites who have graced the pages of the mag. Some of the shots have never been published before. She dressed down for the appearance, but looked stylish as ever in a pair of form-fitting high-waisted jeans, which she wore with a gray sweater with inset lace, a seasonal velvet blazer, and a pair of Chloe suede high-heeled booties. It's been a while since I last bought an Esprit piece, but that's about to change. The brand, which has had European and Asian success in the last five years, is attempting to regain its fashion strength in the US. It currently has about a dozen locations in the states, and its largest North American store is set to open at 21-25 West 34th Street in NYC in March. It will carry casual and cocktail men's and women's collections, as well as accessories for both sexes. Helping push along the growth are socialites Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Daisy Lowe, the pretty faces of the new Esprit ad campaign. What do you think?
